I drove by this rig the other day. I was gonna go back to take some pics, but looks like I don't have too! My guess is it isn't an 'real' CT 110, but someone's buildup?

If you sit and listen to the blurb, they claim it is a genuine CT support vehicle.

No kidding. Park Place. I know that place well. My Dad's company is across the street. If they say it is genuine, it probably is, and can probably be registered. But, you have to be out of your damn mind to pay that kind of money for a 1990 Defender.....

I would love to get my hands on a real Camel Trophy 110. One with real provenance. It is the holy grail for me and that is coming from someone with an NAS 110.

Probably the only vehicle I would trade the 93 for...

Do you guys have any basis to not believe it's a real CT support vehicle? The listing claims it is 1 of 4 that went to Siberia.

I have no real factual basis...I think it *might* not real because:

- it looks too new, too clean (I guess they say it was refurbished?)
- it's LHD (thought they were RHD - I'm probably wrong)

It very well could be legit.

The blurb said something about a new engine so maybe it's had a once over. Dunno about the RHD vs LHD.

Scott, give them a call and let us know what they say. It's way out of my price range, but I see others paying that or more for 110s all the time.

Hmm; not over 25 years old....newly issued WA plate....

The All British Field Meet in Bellevue is in two weeks. I believe Park Place is hosting an event for ABFM participants. If the 110 is still around, there should be enough Rover-ites there to thoroughly opine on its originality....

I think the only definative way to know is to contact land rover with the VIN and they will confirm or deny it was a Camel Trophy vehicle.

The odometer in the picture reads 229 miles, that's a little scary!

Sounds like a new odometer. What's scary is the battery warning light says 24V. They were surely not 24V in 1990?

Depends on what the rig was used for. My 1990 had a 24v system for military communications. If this was a real support vehicle, I could see it coming that way.

VIN number is for 1986 model, listed as 1990 in the ad.

Methinks it is a very good impersonation of the real thing.

Euro vins come up as different years when they are looked at with NAS rules. My 1990 came up as an 85. They have different digit placement.

Vin

There is web site called CalVin Land Rover VIN calculator.

Run this VIN thru it......It does come back as a 1990. North American style VIN searches do not work well for out of country VIN's.

More info for ya guys:

Hello,

I am selling my Legally imported 1990 Camel Trophy. I have all supporting documentation and Federal Tags. The vehicle is currently located in Bellevue, WA. The vehicle remains very original and includes many of the original tools that were used on the Trophy event to Siberia. I have installed a new 200 TDI engine from Turner engineering. The Defender also has a new transmission from Ashcroft. I have spared no expense on the vehicle as I was preparing to take it to Belize this year. I believe that you will not find another Camel Trophy in better condition.

I have the vehicle for sale at a local car dealership and you can view pictures there. http://www.parkplaceltd.com/ Please feel free to contact me for specific questions (owner) or you can call Park Place motors. They will be able to arrange financing if you need it. Asking $45,990

Thanks,
Ron
