Camel 110 #Africa

I would like the forum's opinion. Rebecca and I have the opportunity to buy a 200tdi Defender 110 from a friend in a very remote part of Africa. This particular vehicle is an ex Camel Trophy RHD 110 from 92'. It's driven from the UK to S. Africa and back to the UK. It was shipped back to Africa a few years ago for a 6 month expedition/honeymoon and now my friends circumstances have changed(2 babies). It's been serviced and is expedition ready. My friends offering the truck to Rebecca and I at a great price, which is really irrelevant and, even though we just got back from Africa, we're prepared to fly back over if this is the right vehicle. Long term goal is to use the vehicle seasonally for several years, when we're not working aboard S/Y RIVKY in Boston, and ultimately ship it back to the US when it becomes eligible. Might try to import sooner as a collector vehicle or race vehicle with off road or limited use restriction. Thoughts? Devil's advocates welcome. Matt

Can't believe you haven't already bought it. You know you're asking the wrong crowd...

Ummm, It's a drivable, usable, workable CT 110, that is exportable in a couple of years for a reasonable price. What is there to think about?

I would be very interested in renting it to you, and anyone else that knew what they were getting themselves into.

No question, definitely buy it. That truck is probably worth big money if I had to guess, based on it being a CT truck.

This thread is a non decision for a rover enthusiast. My check book and pen would leap out and write itself like Mickey mouse's mop and bucket in his failed attempt at wizardry. Not only is this a nondecision, it's also a non conversation, as there is nothing to debate or discuss. If I were in the OP's shoes, I would use same pics but title the thread "Suck it bitches!"

Now lets see... By triangulating the angle of the sun and calculating the season based on the wind velocity blowing through the trees, take into account the colors of the soil and the surrounding vegetation... I've booked a flight to central Africa to go searching for this truck... I want it...lol...

So, the letter states it was built 6-11-1991?
So will it be importable on that date in 2016?
Is that how it works?
Nice 110.
