Scott,

If you think that he sucks now, what if I told you that he and Rebecca will be going back to pick up where they left off at the end of this year?!

If you've enjoyed my pictures and the Camel 110 story, do me a favor...help us feed these kids by donating money to Naturally Africa Foundation. Naturally Africa Foundation is run by Marc and Felicity Crouch, they sold us the Camel 110 and changed our lives forever. Here's the link.

Now you're talking Matt!! We just returned from Guatemala feeding malnurished kids, and what a wake up call!! While the CT is awesome -as is the trip, the realities of these countries/situations is quite sad...

Thanks Dale. The kids in my photos are probably to young to understand the situation they were born into and, until they're old enough to understand....they are hungry but, really quite happy. Unfortunately, we were told a lot of these kids will not live long enough to ever know the difference between being a happy yet hungry child and being an adult in a crappy situation. I don't want to give you all the, "for a quarter a day..." speech but, Naturally Africa Foundation is a very real charity owned and operated by Land Rover enthusiast in a very disadvantaged part of Malawi. If ever you wanted your money to go directly toward feeding children, the children in these videos...this is your chance.

I got this email from Africa on Friday...

Hi Matt, I have bad news. As we tried to leave Zambia, customs impounded the camel and will only release to the registered owner. Have tried for the last couple of hours to get them to release but they will not. Trying to find out what happens next but, it looks like you will have to come out now. Trying to find out how long they will keep it for and if there are any charges. Sorry for the bad news. When I have more info, I will let you know.

Many thanks,

Nick Selby
Foleys Africa Ltd

What happened...Nick was moving the truck to a friends house in Zimbabwe for a couple weeks, because there was a delay in obtaining the Carnet de Passage and, our Zambian temporary import permit was about to expire. Basically, to customs officials because I wasn't present, it looked like someone might be trying to steal the truck and cross the border. This was not the case. Luckily over the last few days we were able to work out everything over the phone and the truck is being released tomorrow with a new type of import permit that will allow it to stay in Zambia until the Carnet has been processed. What we learned is that I was in fact given the wrong type of import permit to begin with. Nonetheless, I have to pay a $300 fine. No big deal.

I can not thank the folks at Foley's Africa and Foley's Special Vehicle enough for all of their help.

Matt

Trucks still locked up abroad. Customs agents in Zambia changed their minds and are again saying that I'll need to fly over to collect the truck. Maybe time to hire a lawyer.

Good news! We're planning our next trip with our South African friends Steph and Britta! Looks like we're going from Zambia due west, then southeast, then northeast, then west, then northeast, then north, then northwest...etc.

Also, our new carnet(vehicle passport) has been printed. Among the African countries on the carnet we also, just in case, added...Argentina! Chilli! Peru! Columbia! Ecuador! Panama! and Costa Rica!

Matt, I want to talk to you about that process at some point, as I want to do the same thing for mine (get a carnet).

Awesome trip and stories. This is what Land Rover's are all about. Jeep's are for malls. Land Rover's are for AFRICA!

This is the same group of Evoques that we crossed paths with in Botswana.

Kingsley Holgate is the most interesting man in Africa. Adding him was a nice touch.
what the bit with the plan was about is beyond me- just fluff I guess.
