Illegal to transport that much cash via air. I see the TSA and LEOs seize more cash that way thinking its drug money. And of course you know the money is guilty until proven otherwise.

Cashiers check from your bank. But it limits your ability to negotiate.

And if you don't like what you see, your bank can redeposit it for you.

I never thought of that. I once flew to Chicago to get a car and had a cashiers check already cut for what I wanted to pay. It worked out ok.

Im with Citi so not sure if they are really outside of NYC area.

I wonder if anyone would take Bitcoin?

...& the keys to your new rig, which, of course, is parked in the bank branch parking lot & not behind a locked gate back at the seller's place.

Just bought my truck long distance but worked through a dealer and did a wire transfer after the price was agreed to by both parties.
All other deals have been local and we met at a bank so money transfers and contracts could be notarized.

When I bought my 110 from France I wired my guy on the ground (I had talked to him twice on the phone) $11K. 110 showed up as planned.

I flew with just under $10K to Portland to buy my RRC. Met guy at airport, drove it, he walked away with the cash.

Bought a 1997 LC from a dealer in TX, should have had that one inspected.

$8.5K to Oregon for my Series...had great pics but first interaction with seller and that turned out great.

A buddy told me before I sent the money to France that sometimes you just have to throw the trust out there. That being said $11K is not $30-$40K.

Heck send me money and I will sell you my '97 SW, I know, you want a ST.

Is eBay an option for you? Lots of buyer protections built around that model. Maybe work with the seller to allow you to pay a deposit first, then go see it/get it. IMO it is an exciting experience.

On this one truck - no. I did once make a vehicle purchase on eBay and it was exciting.
