Just what are your expectations on the "right" thing after taking possession of an inherently unreliable used car sold with no warranty as is where is? The short answer is you will be on your own. Best to come to terms with that before venturing further.

This truck has an awesome Kenwood tape deck--- you should still buy it.

Wow, I looked at this thread when it first started and was all ready to go to SI with some of my boys to do some D90 justice, then I come back and find out OP is bitching about ~$149, he neglected to note in the conditions of sale????
Really dude?? I still don't know if this SI dealer (Mike) is legit and worthy of our business, but I'm not sure this thread about him being a douche is quite accurate. He called you a dick? Ehhh, in NY we throw that shit around. It's kind of like "Good morning" over here- "Hey youze, stop being a dick, and go get me some milk outta the fridge." Fuggedaboutit.

So hey Mike, so why don't you be the bigger guy and give this Texan virgin his $500 back and win some new respect from the worlds biggest and best Defender community???

Like if it was missing the steering wheel, i would have been like hey mike what happened to the steering wheel!

I owned a bunch of old, unreliable cars in my life and realize things go wrong with them and don't expect a bumper to bumper warranty but my confidence in this guy dropped to the floor after speaking with him. Who knows what else he wasn't telling me. I guess i'm old school where my word means something and I don't have to refer to a bunch of "legal stuff" he puts on his website.

I got my Classic for $1200 and I can safely say you won't get the one in the ad for that. I think the ship has sailed on classic prices like that.

You could buy 3 of these for the same money and have plenty of spares if you need them Two owner truck with complete documentation… Watch this end up on ebay for 8-10k.

Sorry man, but I'm going to throw out here that your "old school" is very different from mine. I graduated from Law School in 1985, and if you're telling me that in 2015 you think you can conduct business with a dude you've never met 1000's of miles away (from the Internet no less) and want to base shit on your "word" when his ad clearly states the conditions.... SMF'ingH, well good luck, but I'd walk away from this, keep your biz in Texas or local enough where you can do a hands on, and conduct biz as old school as you want it face to face and lastly, stop crying wolf on forums....

Just saying...

Sad but I guess i have to agree with you. I bought over 10 cars, sight unseen over the years and they all have been great transactions and honest. I sold three of them overseas and still in touch with the new owners and are now friends. I guess times are a changing. I remember when ebay was new people would send me payment in cash via mail!

If you guys look at the thread I'd mentioned that Red90 linked, the dude in Staten Island has misrepresented and blatantly lied about his vehicles in the past. Mileage tampering, etc.

Regardless of the whole money/agreement/FUBAR situation, you shouldn't post someone's home address on a public forum. What purpose is served by posting private customer information? Just a passive aggressive dick move?

I hope the two of you can get this figured out on your own. If the $12k RRC doesn't work out I'd be happy to sell a clean D2 for $15k to either of you.

ok??? but in this case, the OP's issue is a frigging fee clearly stated in his ad, and for christ sake is <1% of the bloody over inflated price he was willing to pay for this thing.

He might have been a crook in the past, but I'm just not seeing the sellers fault in this case.
