Busy Weekend d90 highlift mounts and OT content

I made a cheap set of highlift jack mounts as well as have the Shelby back to 98% since the clutch/radiator and toploader explosion. Boy I forget how sloooooow my 90 is compared to the Superchaged Cobra GT-350.

For the mounts, I took the heavy duty version of 1.5 and 1.75 muffler clamps, drilled a hole through the middle, took a .5" by 3" bolt, cut off the head and welded it in. Then with two flat washers and a wing nut I have a cheap highlift mount. I have the 1.5 inch size on the risers for my safari rack even though its a little too big. The 1.75 size works perfect on the NAS cage or the ARB as shown. All total I have maybe 6 bucks per set plus a little time on the welder and grinder. I think i could revise the design some by adding a hole in the bolt to put the bungy cord in in order to ensure the wings do not vibrate off. Also a shock bushing under the bolt to give the highlift cushion may be a nice addition. In any case, cheap afternoon fun.

Here is some eye candy....

Try a large lock washer first. On my BP spare carrier, i used them on the hilift mount and it kept the wingnut snug.

MMMMMM I like the Superchaged Cobra GT-350! Do you think I can fit that engine under the hood of my 90?
