Brought her home today...

Picked her up today in Brooklyn 1988 D90 19J RHD...between those crappy heavy trailers from Uhaul and the Defender itself, the RR had no problem towing them but drove like a pig and the multiple double parked jackasses that I had to squeeze past didn't help either...

Will run over to the DMV on Monday to register her and then begin the assessment of immediate repairs and todo's for the warmer weather.

I did find the wing indicator lights both don't work, and the horn as well as the turn signal only locks in one direction, so I think the stalk is bad...and there are no back lights for the instrument cluster..but otherwise the electrical seems to work as intended...

Sometime in it's life someone installed an intercooler the full size of the radiator behind the grill...I wonder how much of an improvement it made...maybe an extra hamster or two?

The seller had a set of XS Alloy wheels that I swapped out for some aftermarket steels...no spacers so the hubs stick out, but don't look bad...

***This message contains extreme Sarcasm***

The added weight of the intercooler would negate any gains from it.

Sarcasm off:
Congrats, nice looking truck that is deserving of a better motor.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the size of it....while the motor is low mileage (88K) prob will swap out eventually...

Cool. Interesting how it's got a Rostyle spare. Put a 200/300 in there and she'll be a blast!

Those U-Haul trailers are way heavy! I towed my recently purchased 1994 Defender 90 that I purchased down in Great Neck NY to the Seacoast of New Hampshire and I was surprised how heavy that trailer felt without the vehicle on it behind my 2014 MB G550 SUV. I had no issue pulling it in the G wagon once the 90 was on, but wasn't expecting the amount of rear end sag that I had.

Good luck with the 90. Looks like you have a good platform to start tinkering on.

I need to start a list of parts...I was given the recommendation of Paddock over in the UK ...good selection and reasonable prices esp for shipping to the States...any other suggestions?

These are all solid recommendations......except AB (I'll let Rufus elaborate on that one)

There is a thread somewhere if you search on more detailed opinions on this matter, but I have personally dealt with RN, RDS, RF & SHP and they are all great.

Increasingly, you're seeing ROW parts being stocked by these guys stateside, but I've also ordered from Paddocks (and Craddocks) in the UK and aside from the logistics arrangements they are legit suppliers as well.

Rovahfarm seems to have a nice supply at fairly reasonable prices...while Paddocks is cheaper, I am sure with the customs and shipping it may come out pretty close...

yeah, i didn't realize it at the time but you're right. a few years ago i drove down to maryland to pick up a 1960 MGA for my wife. we picked up a uhaul close to the pickup point and the d2 made it known you were trailering a hunk of steel. although, once we got the MGA on there, it was fine. the d2 just kicked butt all the way home. ok, so the MGA is a third the weight of a 90, but who's counting...

Ordered from all of the above over the years. Honestly unless the part is absolutely impossible to get from a stateside vendor, encourage you to use the stateside vendors. What Fedex/ups etc charge for customs fees seems to be totally arbitrary.

Defenders Northwest can help source parts also. I've always been happy with their service.
