And we all know since Obama's rein, we only have 1/2 of the buying power we had before him.

I almost fell out of my chair laughing at a group of interns that are worried about their stocks tanking. Pretty sure they will go back up over the course of the next 60 years.

The UK just voted for higher taxes, recession, stagnated growth, inflation and high cost of borrowing. As a background to this there will be 2 years of acrimonious negotiation for a paper separation and the 10 or more years to unwind the useful regulation and laws. Just for fun the goverment will need to negotiate, execute and incentivise people to use trade deals that haven't even been thought about yet.

Major employers in the finance area are already moving jobs out to other EU countries to maintain passporting rights ( essentially a pass to do business in all the EU countries ). And other employers are looking at major markets for them shrinking before new ones can be established.

Many things that made the UK attractive for external investment are being dismantled and people with mobile skill sets are considering their options.

The headline figures used by the leave campaign that exiting the EU would provide 350MM GBP per week into the economy were admitted by Nigel Farage ( UKIP ) to be false today - hours after the result. A lot of people believed this and expected to see near instant benefits. They are going to have a very sharp realization ... starting with the increase in cost of their summer vacation.

The people expecting to benefit from this by voting out will be hardest hit.

There is definite value in controlling your own destiny and not being bound to others. But there is also value being in a union and having the support and strength of a collective. ( #carcampingcollective )

I wouldn't support the breakup of the United States and for the same reasons I'm not a fan of the brexit. That being said it is a democratic choice and as such it now needs to run its course.

This quote from the article Will posted sums it up ...

"Even though I voted to leave, this morning I woke up and I just — the reality did actually hit me," one woman told the news channel ITV News. "If I'd had the opportunity to vote again, it would be to stay."

It's not that it won't be painful. But at some point its worth preserving your country.

The left in many countries, which many decades on is still losing the debate with the people, has spent the past ~40 years bringing in voters. People are seeing their countries change around them and are most recently seeing people brought in who have a way of life that is diametrically opposed to western values (and who have no intention of assimilating). People are getting fed up with it and are willing to put up with a significant amount of pain to stop it. See, e.g., Trump.

Chaos theory in evidence as a result of the vote.
Stock markets tank, but speculator’s computers buy low.
Spain wants Gibraltar.
Argentina likely to set sail for Port Stanley again.
Pound crumbles v Dollar.
Scots will win the next Exit UK referendum and grab the Euro-Thistle.
HM Customs, not Hadrian, will build a wall between England and Scotland.
UK Gov bond ratings will be interesting to watch as North Sea oil revenues (and others) disappear.
The United Kingdom won’t be united much longer.
Charles, Prince of Wales, will never take the English Throne.
King Gareth Bale will climb onto the Welsh Dragon throne.

Brexit?...sort of rhymes with:

California's skyrocketing housing costs, taxes prompt exodus of residents - San Jose Mercury News

I'd smirk, but no doubt many of them will move to red & purple states & vote massively BLUE

Or not.

Both sides painted rainbows or doom and gloom for yes/no, both with motivations for exaggeration. All are using the same ability to predict the future that you and I have, nothing more than guesses and wishful thinking.

We will know in the fullness of time!

FWIW my crystal ball (it's black with an 8) says in 2 years the economy in Great Britain will be undeniably better than whatever is left of the European Union.

Yep. All these political discussions revolve around a falling sky. People like drama. In the end, the differences are small in our modern western world no matter what changes occur.

Nothing immediate is going to happen. Even if they declared article 50 tomorrow, it would be two years before the divorce is final.

That's assuming the houses of Parliament approve the change in the UK law, undoing everything they voted to approve in the early 1970s.

How sure are you that REMAIN would succeed if Germans were allowed to vote?

Yep - the germans support the EU ... they have massively prospered and need the UK to arbitrate with the French ... ;-)
