Boys Toys

My father just bought an '02 G500. I have to say that it is very impressive! Not that his will ever be off the pavement, but has anyone been on a trail with one? Just wondering if those 3 diffs really do make a difference. He was going to sell his '98 4.6 HSE, but when he saw resale $ he decided to just keep it. I have to include a pick of his new toy collection. I'm sure it's a tough decision which keys to grab in the morning...

Why not take it off road? I think they are one of the most capable 4wd's. I guess it is super $$ but still you should "exercise" its capabilities

isnt the cost of the toys what seperate's the men from the boys?

G- Wagons are sweet. I've owned one for a short time and loved it. However, the ride was to stiff but you can't beat the engine power and the three lockers where when you engage them the ETC shuts off.

There was a stock G Wagon at 03 MAR. The only thing I know was that it had a big Dent on one of the doors and it had some mud on it. I saw it come off a couple of the mid level trails so it must have been doing pretty good.

Yousef, are you moving to NH?

Live free or Die....

I was behind a Gwagon in traffic last night and I thought it might be a good alternative in a few years and high miles, to getting a 110, depending on comparative prices to build it and wheel it.

I always thought they were great apart from limited axle articulation. Hellish expensivbe - we Canadians can legally import pre-owners from Germany though....the non-turbo diesel was a dog - slow slow slow.

That would have been the G-Wagon Assassin, Camille. She used to wheel it regularly.

David... I've been thinking the same thing. As long as they keep importing them the price should keep going down. I'm thinking I'll make the move in a few years... that is if the 110 cnk is not within reach.

The best part is you should be able to find one that has spent it's whole life getting groceries and picking the kids up from soccer.

They are vary rare over here in the UK, even rarer off road! Saying that though, I do see one at our local off road site regularly. I always thought that they were the ultimate but after seeing it struggle with lockers and swampers where I could get with open diffs and BFG's my opinion was that it was not good at all for the price. Could have been the driver but he seemed to handle it well. My mates and I put it down to the axle travel which was virtually non existant.
Even if it was better, it still doesn't wear the correct badge!

You all of course noticed that the G-wagen has a suspension virtually identical to the D-90 front radius design but both front AND rear?

Exactly David. It it widley known that the LRs downfall is the front radius arms which don't flex very well, hence the big thing over here at the moment is three link front end. But then I don't really need to tell you lot about that do I?
