Ok I found another investor ( another LR Fanatic ). So that puts it at 7 investors. Anymore on logo ideas or art work?

Ok maybe time to entice Gery or someone else talented to do a logo for a free opener. Interested Gery? Maybe a green oval with RoverZFluids or something? Again I fear using the LR logo outright.

I don't know if it's just me, but after seeing all of those huge stickers on LR windshields and in eBay ads with "Best 4X4XFar" I'm kind of over it.

I think Gery is in Montauk or Newport on his boat this weekend.

Yeah, that's the thing about making artwork. Everyone has all these ideas, but when they actually see something it's like..."eh...I don't know. It's not what I pictured. Can you do some other ones and I'll let you know if I like any of them..."
We in the creative industry get that idiot shit all the time. It's a real time waster. Usually it ends up that the client gets tired of paying for revisions and ends up going with what was shown in the first place. This is why I never work for free.
The first thing is to decide what text (copy) that you want. After that decide if you need any image like a logo or defender silhouette, then pick colors.

Personally, I think the custom design bottle openers are stupid expensive for what you get. It's a 50 cent casting for crissakes.

This was a great idea when the thread started. Still a great idea now. I'd be in for some if this happens.

------ Follow up post added July 26th, 2010 03:55 AM ------

I'd invest 100 dollars.
I have at least 10 club members that would love one!

Well, speak for yourself, my land rovers are still the best 4x4 by far!

Ok, it seems we simply need to agree on a logo that

1. Does not violate any copyright laws
2. Fit on the bottle opener
3. Appeals to a relatively broad audience

How about "Open beer here"? LOL

The truth is, that's what I'll be running unless we can agree on a logo

I'm guessing this may be too many colors/complex for them to print but if not, you all can use the oval design. I may have to change the lettering color for 'the' & 'source' to black and drop the address.

Just caught this thread. How did I miss it? Must of been drinkin on my boat or something!

The "design" would have to be pretty simple. Most likely type styled some way or on a curve. Maybe with a border. Not sure what the limitations though.

Did anyone find a manufacturer of these bottle openers?
I could easily whip up a couple designs, but I would want to know production specs.

What about this idea.

We talk to one of our Industry Partners, like Lucky8, use their logo, and they can sell them on their site as well ( or give them away ).

Will call Justin later today if you guys think the opener with L* logo would be cool to have

No offense to L8 or any other vendor, but I'm not looking to advertise for a vendor. I's rather have it plain, but the general idea was something unique and relevant to out rovers.

I agree...I liked the idea of the simple LR oval but I know that we have to worry about the infringement. We also talked about the possibility of going the D90 Source route (unless of course you talk Justin into paying for all of them!)

In all it seems as though the demand would be there for a batch of 100 or so but we need to pick a design. I am not even remotely talented at graphic design so cannot offer any help but I can/will facilitate collecting designs and getting a group vote together

I still need/want two bottle openers. Any updates here?

How about a profile sketch of a D-90 on the Starr bottle opener? Or just the D-90 Source in the Oval? Or just D-90??
