My brother has two Brutes currently, and one of them is for sale. Pics are on his website at www.benhedrick.com

Oh, and there was a gentleman at the Overland Expo with a diesel Brute. Believe he is from southern Colorado.

There is a company called diesel toys (dieseltoys.com) that put the Toyota 1KZT-E engine in TJs. It's a pretty solid engine. They charge $20k tho. But there are a lot of companies that import japanese engines to the US so I'm sure you could source one.

The Sportsmobiles are badass. I see a lot of them where I live. They are a favorite of the windsurfing/kiteboarding crowd.

Dave Harriton, the owner of AEV, has previously stated that the inspiration for the Brute Double Cab was the Defender 130. He is an admitted "closet Defender lover" (http://forum.aev-conversions.com/showthread.php?t=4200).

Unfortunately, if your wife wants a Double Cab, you'll have to buy the completed truck from AEV. They will only be building complete trucks and there are no plans to sell it in kit form.

Why not use the Jeep 2.8 CRD? I had one in a Liberty, lots of torque.

Yeah, he works hard and plays hard. He travels a fair bit with work. If you have anything to do with airports you might have met him there.

Brute

I saw that 4 door pu in a recent truck mag with the big Hemi Me likey and 50gs is a bargain considering ML/x5/Cay prices but I doubt the loaded up one in Truck Trend could be had for 50.
