Black SW?

I don think these were ever produced by LR but just curious if there was ever a factory SW in black.

Guess I could just PM Horseyboy for his database but thought I'd get some opinions from some other owners.

Thanks,
Alex

There were no factory produced Black NAS SW's... But, Doug Crowther turned his black ST into a SW.

With the white roof it would look like a police car.

Wasn't there a "Defender Black" in the early 2000's?

Negative, Ghostrider. Would have been cool though. Are you turing yours into an SW?

Those look significantly better than most of the painted hard tops I have seen.

Thank you.
Eddie at West Coast Rovers got it done for me.
I sold the hard top and went with a Badger top great choice. But the hardtop did look good in Black.

Was it sanded smooth first? Black and a clear coat or is that some sort of gel coat? What did you do for the interior? I'd like to dynamat mine and then have a headliner made. Going for as close to a SW as possible. I'm thinking that since the top isn't on and off a bunch like a Jeep top that I can get away with the headliner. Just something to cut down on the hollow sound inside.

Mine still had the texture. if I were to do it again I would bondo and sand smooth and or gel coat. I had it sprayed baluga and clear coated. Tt was not the most durable finish. it scratched somewhat easy. I never got around to it but yes I was going to I was going to Dynomat the inside and then use a carpet like head liner.

THe first Pic is one that Copley was selling a while back. It looks like it was a SW or a good looking conversion.

Yes I did ! It was a 94 Se with leather seats etc..
It now lives in Valdez Alaska and belongs to the Captain of a 140ft tugboat that moves the super tankers in and out.

funny thing is I asked Matt about that D90 earlier today
I bought it from Matt, then sold it to my dad 18 months latter
now when I say sell I mean sold it for what I paid Matt for it, (not including a ton of work I did to it) basically so I would have a D90 when I was in CO, and he was to sell it back to me at the same price that I sold it to him...
then three years latter my dad sells it to Carl here in KC only because I just bought my NAS D110 (now Beluga Black)
neither my dad nor Carl drive it from what I hear
Carl is a friend of Matt's, so for the last 12 years or so it has been owned by either family or friends!
I may be in the market again come summertime for another D90 ST
I need a trail D90 that is stockish, and this one fits the bill, but I imagine it needs some work...

I had also planned on painting the hard-top just like the one pictured in this thread sitting in front of Copley.
really like that one!
stay tuned...

the one from above post #11 - was a fibre-glass hard-top that was painted black and the truck also had wagon doors.
