Black Forest Fire

Flew back home into Colorado Springs tonight, right over the Black Forest Fire. Just awful.

Anybody talked to Matt at Rock Ware? I saw burning homes not far from his place. Hope his family, pets, and home are safe tonight.

We are well south of the fires, safe and sound.

I was thinking that I would email him today to see if everyone was alright. Hopefully everyone only lost property!

I recall there being a few Black Forest area guys on the board? If anyone in the evacuation area needs a place to leave pets or store their stuff, let me know we have some space.

AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...

Year by year my beautiful Colorado is burning to the ground.

If any of you guys on the north-east side of town need a place to crash or a place to park your rover, PM me. I don't have much space here in Cheyenne Canyon but I'll help where I can.

Looks like the fire is within about 1500' of Matt Peterson's place. Damn.

The winds are picking up and it's very gusty outside now, too.

Here's the current assessment (by street and house number). Obviously this list is growing, as we speak. It's gut-wrenching.

Wind is cranking right now. Easily a steady 30 MPH. This is looking really bad.

Thank you to everyone fighting the Colorado fires! I can see plumes of smoke from the Black Forrest Fire from my residence in downtown Denver. If I can help in any way please get in touch.

Man what a tough situation, after the Colorado Springs fires last summer this area could definitely use a break. I hope all the board members in the areas affected are okay.

I've got a good friend and associate that had to leave two days ago. When he bugged out the house across the street was engulfed in flames and the 100 foot flames were about 100 yards away. Yesterday morning someone called his house and got his answering machine?!?! So they figured they still had power and house was still standing. Yes they still have a machine. I checked last night and found a map updated at 10:00 pm and it looked like his house at least was still standing.

He did say that they definitely had some smoke damage and he figured they were going to have some water damage because as they were leaving the helicopters were dropping water on his house. Haven't heard any more from him. As with Matt I'm sure he is worried about his shop also. His shop only has a few thousand sticks of gunstock blanks in it. If it catches on fire it will be ashes in a hurry.

Just got off the phone with Matt from RockWare...they are all fine, the fire was pretty close but no property loss and no one in his family was injured! He's back to work and really busy...for sure they were some of the lucky ones!

I think we may have painted Matts house for him. Good luck washing the slurry off your roof.
