Bizzaro world Rover 110!

Picked up my "new" 1983 110 RHD this morning and what a totally disorienting experience!!! It's like trying to write a letter with my left hand (I'm right handed)...makes me have to think long and hard before I do anything in the truck...anybody else have this reaction or is it just cause the other side of my brain is just too rotted away by alcohol!

Get a buddy to sit in the front passenger seat (US drivers seat) and act like he is falling asleep, or looking down at the cell phone. It really freaks out the oncoming traffic.

I drove around with the dog in the passenger seat. Mike tells the story of the cop that pulled up next to us when we were in Janey and I was asleep.

I still try to start my Defenders on the right side every time I drive them so I cant imagine what a RHD would do to me. Do they make a steering column where the key is on the right side?

Its funny when the "expert tech" has trouble finding the ignition switch.

I still haven't driven a RHD vehicle, but Chance was telling me how shocked people were when he used to drive his old RHD with one of his big Newf's in the passenger seat!

Must be alcohol! J/K.

I have no problem at all driving on the RHS, but I did learn to drive on that side so maybe it's ingrained in me. I also have no problems switching back and forth between my LHD D90 and the RHD 110, although I'll admit with frequent switching I sometimes confuse which side I have to actually enter the vehicle. Once I'm in I'm ok though. You sure look like an ass when trying to get into the vehicle on the wrong side though

I have gotten some strange looks when people think my daughter is driving while sitting in the passenger seat (they sometimes pretend to be steering).

Oh and it sucks when your spotter uses driver/passenger instead of left/right (which is usually preferable) and they forget which side you are on!

Never driven RHD on this side of the pond, but when I first did it in the UK i was all messed up. Driving for the first time on a 5 speed vauxhall didn't help either. It didn't take long for it to seem natural although I realized after the fact that I drove all the way across Exmoor on the wrong side of the road. good thing it was at dusk in the heavy rain and there wasn't any other traffic.

I lived in England for two years and always felt the switch to the left side of the road was completely natural... when the steering was on the right side it just seemed natural to switch to driving on the left side of the road. I'm a little scared that if I drove a RHD here I'd try driving on the left side of the road too...

Usually she lays down, but _always_ sits up at lights so she can see the people around her. It's like she's aware of the attention she gets from fellow motorists. It's always entertaining. With her in the seat (and middle seat), there's not a whole lot room left for me sometimes.

You can drive ol' Blue if you come back for a HH Andrew. It's fun shifting that sloppy old LT77 with your left hand.

Yeah, I need to make it back out there. I still haven't seen ol' blue in person! I need to get back to work on the 110, but its been on hold lately with my schedule. I'm coming out in late June, but I won't be able to meet on a Friday (maybe Wed?). Do you still have the '97? (sorry for the hijack)

Late June might be OK, but might be in Cabo around the 20th. Middle of the week is fine with me (and I'm sure, most of the regulars). It would be good to see 'ya. Yup, still have the 97. Nobody's buying anything, and I'm not gonna give it away.
