Birthday date off assembly line???

Hi,

I was wondering if there was some way to get the exact date that your Defender 90 rolled off the assembly line in England? Kind of like a birthday for the truck?

I was wondering if there was some site or something where you could enter the VIN# and get this information?

This is information that I don't really NEED.........but it would be fun to have

The sticker in the drivers side says 2/96, my birthday is same month on the 27th makes it easy for me. It would be nice to know, I was always surprised my truck was built in 96.

I ordered a Certified Copy of Factory Record from British Motor Industry Heritage Trust.
Easy and painless. can do it on line. Takes about a month.

The LR dealer in Bahrain got one for me. It was straight from Land Rover. I needed it to prove that it was over 25 years old. Your local dealer might be able to help you out.

This works for the older ones; but I don't know about the NAS 90's.

I recall checking in to this about 10 years ago and thought I was told that info was not available for NAS '90s. Maybe Josh can zero in on this issue...

I don't thnk the British Motor Heritage Trust can help with anything newer than 1988 from Land Rover. That was the deal a year or two ago anyway. You need to go through Solihull for newer trucks.

Best of luck. I use these guys regularly. They refered me to land rover and said that their records beyond 1988 were lacking. I had a special vehicle placard and wanted more information. Those placards only give a date of manufacture and contract number. I wanted to know who the truck was built for.

Doug:

Which Heritage Certificate is the best bang for the buck by the way? They've got the Technical Data, Heritage, or Premiere Heritage options I believe.

they all have limited value in the import process since they don't come from Land Rover. The dating letter is pretty lame. In your case get the heritage cert. The Premiere just incorporates a picture you provide.
I use these on exmod trucks that have no registrations or on trucks from other countries where the foreign registrations don't list year model. They will email it when you are in a hurry like I always am.
