Quite the spectacle where I am. We have the only WTC building rebuilt so far, and I'm looking out my office window at no less than 20 different news channel vans, and they've already closed down some sidewalks to pedestrians to designate them for celebrations and protests. Hopefully his death will weaken their operations, but I fear that much of his power, plans, and influence were delegated long ago, and that this isn't the end.
I saw on the news that we took possession of his body, but that we also buried it at sea in accordance with at least some of the Muslim religion's burial rules. I don't understand why we'd care about burial rights for him when so many of our own were never recovered. Aside from having lost family friends and so many others from my hometown and surrounding towns, one of my best friend's only brother died fresh out of college at 23 working for Cantor Fitzgerald on 9/11, and they only retrieved a few remnants of his body for burial. It just sickens me.

While I agree it's horrible and question why we didn't bring his head home on a platter to kick in the streets.... My parents always brought me up with the understanding that "two wrongs don't make a right" and so good for them for at least showing *some* form of respect.... as twisted as the situation is.

Ending the AQ movement of inflammatory western rhetoric would be the greatest blow to UBL that we can do. Pacifying the muslim world's rage is the method to do this, by mitigating the AQ rhetoric and proving them wrong. By respecting Islam burial rights, we show that we are not at war with Islam, which is a double blow to UBL since his life work was to make the case that this is the 2nd Crusade against Islam. If we literally kicked his head around, and made a spectacle out of him, it would allow him to continue his work after death, which is his martyrdom dream.

That being said, what happens on the chopper stays on the chopper. If I was one of those Navy seals on the extraction flight out, I'm pretty sure I would have taken a dump on his face.

Seriously?

Come on, I remember from some past education.... if you have such high profile target, you must retrieve it ( dead or alive ) and document the outcome.

A - where are the pics
B - where are the pics of the Commandos pissing in his open mouth
C - where are the pics of the Commandos cutting his head
D - where are the pics of the Commandos playing kickball with his head

In a true forum spirit.. " PICS OR IT DID NOT HAPPEN "

I do have to wonder about the whole thing given timing and all...... But then again I tend to somewhat at least question everything our government/media pukes out. ** puts tinfoil hat back on**

My understanding is that Seal team 6 is the best equiped group of commando's in the world. Pretty sure each and every team member had his helmet cam on and that there is complete and graffic film coverage. That said only three other males and one female were killed in the operation. The administration has said they don't want to release a photo because he was head shot and its not pc. This is the whole birth certificate all over again. Show the pictures !

With the body buried at sea, there is no burial location for followers to mourn. Gotta love that. The US thought of everything on this one.

Politics aside, point is if it takes one day or 3650 we will keep hunting you until you are captured or dead.

Personally, I would have preferred to have him buried in a security compound, and open to the public for mourners. Would only require a biometric scan, photo and DNA swab for entry.

...but instead of him actually being buried there, they really just buried a fat old pig without telling anyone.

I know, I got it. Not sure how politics are involved, it was a good joke. We now return to celebrating this mission accomplished.
