Biltmore LRE driving school

The guy I bought my truck from, also an instructor there, offered his customers to bring their trucks out for a day so I signed up. I am excited since I really haven't done any wheeling yet, cough, cough, poser. He said they will put it to the test on the course. Any one else done this yet? Hopefully some good pics will follow...

Is this Tony's thing from Old English Cars? I took my 90 to him in the winter just after purchasing just to look it over. Great guy, seems very honest. Wish I could have signed up, sounds great especially with the recent break in the heat. Please post pictures.

Yep it's Tony's thing. He does seem pretty honest. He knows his rovers for sure. Did you get the invite also? There should about five trucks at the school for the day.

I got an invitation but cant make it. I dont really do much wheeling, yes I'm a poser too. I have before and enjoy it, just too OCD to overcome the inevitable mess I make. I've never seen much of the Biltmore Estate outside the home tour so I will be very interested in hearing about your adventure.

I had a blast today! Since I haven't really done anything like this before I don't have much to compare it to, but it involved some pretty sweet obstacles. Most of the day was spent on some trails that wandered through the estate that had many man-made dips and angles throughout. There were three Discos and one 90 and my 110. The instructors had an LR4.

Unfortunately my truck suffered some carnage. The rear upper spring seats were both showing some signs of decay thanks to years of rust. I figured that they might give me a problem but that this was a fairly safe arena to test out the truck's capabilities and its weaknesses. Well, they definitely weren't up to the task. Both broke by the end of the ordeal so I need to replace them. Good thing I have the replacements sitting in my shop!

This was lots of fun and I have a great deal of respect for this vehicle. I was the only manual transmission, manual steering, diesel, non AC truck out there and it held up against all the technology that Land Rover has developed in the last 28 years.

Hopefully I can get some more pics from others. Since I was driving I was't able to shoot much.
