Smile Beware This Defender

Beware This Defender. I have seen this truck up close. There is more rust than you can see. The Bulhead has so much rust you can put your hand thru it. i dont think the seller has disclosed the full exstent of the rust.

This truck needs a new frame. On the plus side it does run well.

Gratuitous lights, gratuitous badges, odd wheels, and how the heck did the center of the "W" bar behind the seats get all rusty? Leaky sunroof? Screwy.

The carfax report also shows an inconsistent odometer reading.

Not uncommon. Illinois DMV screwed up my mileage report with an emissions test. Corrected it the next year and it has been OK since.

It happens.

The carfax report actually has a note that it may be a clerical error. Carfax is useful sometimes but I don't exactly trust it 100%.

yup.
we seem to install the most of what is shown on the site. I am not saying that bumper is any better or worse than another, just that folks tend to look around the site and go with what they can see already done. Personally I like it when folks want something different, something we have never done before.

Cool. I was wondering. Do most of your customers know about this site?

Very few
Out of all the customers we have had I only know of 3 or 4 that use or frequent this site. Different demographic.

I'm always surprised how many people I meet, even my age, that say stuff like:

"oh, we don't internet"
"I'm not an internet junkie"
"I don't like computers"

Hell, its their choice, but some of these same people say things like "I've always wondered "X"" Where x=some simple-ass fact that can be ascertained with a 5 second google search.

Frankly, I just don't understand why someone wouldn't want to check the d-90 board several times a day.

Fixed it for ya.

I was actually looking at this truck a couple years ago when it was for sale. I was close to getting it until both I heard from Ron about how bad the rust was, and second, the seller dropped the ball.. He stopped communicating with me when I asked if I could have someone go check it out. Plus, it was for sale A LOT cheaper back then.. I think closer to $13k, can't remember exactly.

Follow-up Post:

Looking back through my emails, the price was $10,500 a year ago, through a different seller.
