I get them daily so I'll l just share yesterday.

I'm coming back from High Point, NC about 1.5 hours away doing about 75. I pass by an new FJ that was doing about 65 2 lanes over. About a mile or so down the road I look up in my rear view mirror and the FJ is on my tail, and I can see a smart phone flash beaming at me through his windshield. After a few moments he drops off.

Back in Charlotte, I'm at a gas station, and some 20 year old in an older chevy came up to my while pumping and told me my truck was "glorious!".

The compliments that always make me stumble though are when someone asks "wow, where are you going?" or "where are you coming from?". I know they are expecting me to say something epic like I'm on my way to the arctic or Panama, and I end up feeling like I'm letting them down if answered truthfully "I'm grabbing groceries on my lunch break". I usually just answer simply "where ever I want" or "I'm an outdoorsman". After all this time I still don't have anything witty to say.

I always think back to that BBC show on Land Rover, where the narrator says "Land Rover are always doing something important".

I think this picture really captures the perfect metaphor of me and my 110. This is from a recent article on Overland Expo. My 110 is that magnificent elephant in full decor, and I'm the putz riding it work in the city every day.

I can't wait til Expo so I can actually go somewhere interesting with it.

Browsing the registry just now on plane and flight attendant says "looking for a JEEP mine is awesome in the snow"
Never fails, although I did have a high school kid last week say "Nice 110 Bro" when going to pick up my kid after work.

it always amazes me when 20 year olds and younger know what a Defender is.

Best compliment is when this young artist decided to sketch my truck as I waited for my girl to finish up in whole foods.

Best comment my wife got while pumping gas in her 97SW a few years back. "Do you even know what this is....?"

And a positive one from a guy from Africa. "I haven't seen one of these since I was back home in Africa!"

Last spring I was pulling out of the New Orleans Saints' corporate office parking garage after dropping a friend off and low and behold, Drew Brees is pulling in from the other direction.
He was absolutely checking out the Defender and I even caught him looking in the side mirror as I pulled away.
