Beltway psychos - rant

So I had a Rock/Battery/piece of metal/etc thrown at me yesterday on the Beltway.
I was going 60mph in the right lane near the University of Maryland and about to get off that exit when a white tahoe pulls up behind me doing 80+ (my blinkers were already on and there was nobody on either of the lanes to my left). After I started slowing down this psycho pulls up next to me (on the shoulder now) and throws something at me. Good thing he throws like a girl and it only hit the bottom of the door panel, now I have a nice deep dent in it. WTF is wrong with people down here? What if he had hit me or wifey? shattered a window? I have no idea what I did wrong nor why he wouldn't pass me on the left which he LEGALLY is supposed to do anyway. No i didn't get his plate, just a white Tahoe with MD plates, windows appeared to be sprayed black (windshield too).

I've lived in DC for a little over a year and a half and I've never seen worse driving, more road rage and a total disregard for any and all traffic laws in my life (AND I'M FROM LONG ISLAND)...

When my signals were broken I half thought about taking my time to fix them bc nobody signals down here anyway.

I've recently seen an influx of more road rage on the beltway and 270. It's getting crazy.

I've thought about 1000 island dressing in 2oz plastic portion cups, that would make a good sticky splatter on someones hood/door/windshield. But alas I don't have it in me to actually do that to someone.

I've been driving mine between the GW Parkway and Rockville daily, since my wife's Volvo died last week. Maybe I pissed somebody off and they took it out on you. I am telling you with all seriousness: there are some evil people on the beltway during the rush.

I cut my driving teeth on the the beltway when I was a teenager(15 1/2 for learners, then 16 for license) back in the mid 90s. Its always been crazy, and that was waaayyy before all the expanded lanes and larger bridges that you have now. Grew up in Woodbridge, VA.

I write alot of tickets to NOVA and Baltimore people that can't figure out why they are getting a ticket for doing 70 in a 45 in while cutting people off and driving in the turn only lane. They have gotten so used to driving like maniacs in DC traffic and not seeing any enforcement.

I have found that keeping my 90 at 90 (damn that limiter) solves my problem! Oh wait, I just realized that I am the aggressive driver...my apologies if I have cut any of you off!

I think thats why so many from this region have second homes down your way- to come decompress.
My self included obviously since you have already pulled me over...

If it makes you feel better Danny, MSN didn't even rank DC in the top 10!

It baffles me how anywhere in the DC metro area can complain about lack of funding for anything with the way people drive... If people were cited for not signaling alone my wife wouldn't still be looking for a teaching job.

Saw that, but don't really agree for NY's place on it. Short of the Staten Island Expressway and the Belt Parkway, NY traffic at least tends to move... People are aggressive yes, but they keep moving! The apathy of the left lane and entitlement people have on the roads down here is what gets me. I just wish there were consequences for how people acted... Even if i had gotten the plate number, nothing would've came from it.

LOL...I don't get out to the Beltway much. Once I flipped a guy off when I was driving my SIII across the Roosevelt Bridge. Sometime early in the AM going home from a Sonic Youth show @ the 9:30 club. Probably around '98 or '99. Somewhere I have the pics of the 1.5 inch long groove in the windshield from the round that he fired at me after peeling off for the GW parkway exit. It was a pretty good shot but the flat windscreen saved my sorry ass. True fucking story.
