More of the same. I am sure the defender will be around for a long time. I am picturing some version of the current truck being available in kit form or licensed to developing countries and then a new version built on the LR4 or some crap being sold everywhere else. I wonder if it will come to the US. I guess it depends on how they take the brand and if they want to compete with wranglers here etc.
The only reason I think they would license the current version is because when I worked at Toyota 5 years ago, I know they were still making original FJs in South America. They had factories where everything was done in house from pouring the steel to make an engine block to building the truck. I could see that happening for the Defender. I guess the same thing went on with the original beetle in Mexico as well.
I have been saying they should move production to india for years. The labour cost on a defender is insane. India at $1 an hour v. UK at 50ukp an hour. Do the math. It could be built for next to nothing.
