Question Badger: Sunroof or NO Sunroof?

Opinions wanted!

I was wondering what everyone thought of the sewn-in sunroof option for the Badger? Anyone have one--would you recommend it or purchase it the next time around? I just want to know if that window endures too much dust, debri, bird sh*t, and needs to be cleaned too often to stay clear.

My concern is that I'll be cleaning it until it gets scratched up and then need to replace my entire top! I love to get the 90 dirty on the trial when time permits, but when it's strolling through town I try to keep it pretty meticulous. Will I end up with a beautiful black top and a ugly scratched sunroof in 2 years? I can at least replace the side windows if they get abused.

Thanks!

paul

Just keep the top off. That's the best sunroof you'll find.

Is it possible to roll back the front half of the top like in this picture?

I dont know. But, it seems that section of the top would be the most difficult to unfasten, so at that point I would probably just remove the entire thing (as others have suggested).

This would be nice though if there was a threat of rain. then the top is with you and it doesn't take up space.

I have one and it looks like it has worn well. Maybe not an issue for you in California, but here in the Texas, the sun beating down through the clear plastic sunroof can be a killer.

No sun roof!!!

The UV rays will break down the sun roof top faster
Every spot the needle goes into the top material is a potential leak
Costs more
The window will scratch no matter how careful you are.

I have a sunroof in my personal top and it is 6 years old. I clean the sunroof and then use window polish to make it look good and protect it, which is what you should do to any window on a soft top. The benefit of the sunroof is that it really brightens up your front compartment. I had a customer tell me that his wife thought he got a new dash because it was a different color. He said "no it's the sunroof in the new top". It took a while to convince her. I haven't had a problem with leaking. I put a hat on if it gets hot or open windows. Maybe I should offer a Badger hat with the sunroof option.
