I have not ordered anything from Badger yet, but I had the pleasure of meeting Chris and his dog a few weeks ago when I stopped by his shop. Given odd hobbies like weird vehicles and airplanes, I like to get some feel for the folks I plan on doing business with.

Craftsman is the impression I left with.

What I figured would be a quick chat, and look around wound up being an almost hour long discussion on his business, air cooled Porsches, little of everything...and some about LR trim. Would have enjoyed chatting longer but had the family with me. I will say the products I saw certainly looked top notch. I am not surprised at the schedule issue as he's a one man shop doing labor intensive work...sometimes it just is what it is...

I merely ordered a new back window since my old one was scratched up and the zippers were shot, I was told it'd be done in two weeks two weeks ago, Plus I had to send him my existing top so he could duplicate it, does this mean I don't get a back window for this winter? If there is an option in the call matrix for "new orders" I would try that one first. Another option is to go see the fall foliage in New England and just stop into the shop.

As far as my top getting to me he his hoping to get it out ASAP.

I sent him my old back window so he could measure for a new back window and as a bonus he is going to fix my old back window and make me a new back window. I mailed it a month ago, he says I might have it this week which would be nice because it's gotten cold and rainy up here in Seattle, like 4 inches of rain in one weekend rainy. we'll see if he actually can get it done. he is aware of his name being bandied about on these message boards, doesn't seem to faze him much.

maybe why it's called badger coachworks?

Because you simply need to "badger" them for a few weeks or months to get them to complete your order? Maybe the name is ironic? LOL.

Worst case scenario I can make a temporary back window out of some clear visquine. Doesn't matter it's still going to be only 20 degrees warmer inside my rig than the outside temperature.

You could also just buy one of the drop curtains that Tom - tjfslaughter - has for sale, snap it back there until the rear curtain arrives, then use the drop curtain for its intended purpose to keep the front nice and warm throughout the Winter.

The Badger name is a tip of the hat to his original home state of Wisconsin.

not sure if that would work because I'm never in the rig without my dogs and those poor guys would freeze their nads off while I was sitting up front in bahama like weather. It would come in handy for solo trips or trips with just myself and another human and it's tempting but I think I will wait out the wily badger and see how it goes, emailed, called and sent a smoke signal today, no response so far. fingers crossed.

Badger Update.

I last spoke with Chris September 30th, he said he would call me back shortly to tell me where I was on the production list. I have not heard back from him, I have called him 4 times.

Per Chris my top was supposed to ship at the end of January.

Cold drive to work this morning 35 degrees, hope my top comes soon.

It would help me, but my dogs will be pissed! They come to work everyday. I'll think about it.

I still haven't heard anything from the 30th when he was going to get back with me on my delivery date!

The looks I get driving into work are priceless...looking like I am dressed for an arctic excursion!
