AZ to CT, Cool places along the way?

So i am doing a cross country road trip from Phoenix, Arizona, to my town in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Right now the only stop i have planned is Chicago to visit some people. I was wondering if you guys had any cool suggestions on where to stop, preferably somewhat car/truck/train/plane related, (i love train watching too so some cool places for that would be cool) but really anything as i want to make this a fun trip.

A couple of years ago when we drove to the Grand Canyons towards the touristy south rim, we came across an old airplane museum. They had a few interesting planes. Sorry, forgot the name of it, but it's along the final stretch of road to the south rim IIRC.

Man, I wish I was doing that drive too. If you're passing by I80, stop by the Iowa truck stop!

If you're into trains, stop in Durango and ride the D&RG up to Silverton and back. Then head east to Antonito and ride the Cumbres & Toltec down to Chama, NM. Both have great scenery along the way.

Thanks, I'm pretty excited for it, just booked my flight out today! I'll be in a well sealed 3500 Cummins, so no heat issues.

Yeah, doing this drive is like a dream come true, if only was the summer and i was in a convertible 71 Chevelle, :D
Too bad you forgot the name of the airplane place, that seems pretty cool.

Any other suggestions? Trying to pick whether i am gonna head on up into CO and over to Chicago that way, or go through New Mexico and go that way.

If it's on your way, Cadillac Ranch outside of Amarillo.
