Auto Trans

Guys,

What automatic transmission will fit a 1994 D90 3.9 and maybe down the road a 4.0 or 4.6 engine?
Is there one which fits all three engine types and what are they out of Discovery, P38, ??

The key thing it to get the complete set up from the back of the engine from the same truck. IE get the flywheel/flex plate/trans/shifter etc out of the same truck. If it were me, I would look for one out of an LWB as it was the "HD" model so it should be somewhat more robust.

Don't forget the spacer/puck on the end of the crank(5 bolt holes I believe), easy to miss but will halt the project until you get it.

Or the manifold/ypipe gaskets can bring reassembly to a screaming halt, as I have just found out.

If you are ready for one, I have one out of a 40k '97 LE with the linkage and shifter mount, but no console. I have some pics of some we have fabbed in the past. PM me if interested.
