Austin, TX

I might be relocating to Austin, working off of Mopac / Barton Skyway. As far as where to live, what areas shoud I stay away from and what areas should I consider? Just from what I've researched so far, seems like the SW side is cool and the SE not so much.

I'm really not big on commuting, but at the sametime want a decent location.

Any suggestions or things that should considered in regards to Austin, Tx would be appreciated!

Ade, Austin is a awesome town to live in. Shoot me a PM with where or who you might be working for. My brother lives and works right in that area. Good area. Are you looking to buy or rent? Single or have a family?

Generally speaking, east side is more economical accommodation's. Central and immediate SW are pricey because of the location. NW (where I am) and a little further SW of town are about average for nice places. For a rough ball park, expect nice apts to run around $1 per sq ft. Most can be had with direct access garages or if not car ports and remote garages.

Right now is the perfect time to be looking though. July/Aug none of the UT students are in town yet and apt complexes are offering all kinds of incentives for new tenants to fill vacant apts.

Commuting.. well you out of luck there. You'll be amazed how small Austin is but how much traffic it generates at rush hours. Outside rush hours, getting around is a breeze. Traffic control is the worst I have ever seen.

We have a great bunch of active Rover owners here with the Austin chapter of The Texas Rovers, the dealership has a good relationship with the club as well as has a number of employees that are members of the club. Not a lot of wheeling immediately around town but this year we have started a good relationship with a private land owner outside for town who is eager for wheeler to play on his land and its a fun property with lots of potential.

Aside from the traffic, as I said, Austin is an amazing town, super friendly people with such a great vibe to it. I'm going on my 3rd year living here and still love it.

Shoot me an email or PM if you are going to be hitting town for any scouting. Also let me know what kind of living arrangements you are looking for and I can shoot you a bunch of links and places to look.

Chris, you have email. Where did you move to Austin from?

I'm definitely looking forward to meeting more Rover people!
