Question Asheville, NC

My wife and I (and the D90) are making plans for a long weekend in Asheville, NC for next month. Any recommendations on a place to stay...B&B's, hotels, etc...things to do...?

Cheers...

BBQ, beer and Bluegrass. Extensive crafts and arts scene there as well.

Some great places to grab some beers:

Salsas in downtown one of my favorite places to eat in NC, there is also 12 Bones maybe 2nd to Salsa's. I love the Asheville Brewing beers. There is a large art community there, plenty of music etc. I may likely be there this weekend with my Defender also.

Biltmore

they even have a Land Rover Experience section to the estate, as well as a B&B
we went there in '06 and was one of our favorite places we had visited in a while

I would highly recommend the Grove Park Inn. Really cool old inn that was built around the same time as the Biltmore. http://www.groveparkinn.com/ I suggest staying in the older main inn rooms for their charm.

Check out our local paper http://www.mountainx.com/ for music events when you will be here. There is just about every type of music in this little town. If you are lucky you might be able to catch One Leg Up gypsy jazz band! Most any bluegrass is great here too

The best upscale dining and cocktails in my opinion is a restaurant by the name of Nova. http://www.nova-asheville.com/
I second 12 Bones for the best BBQ.
Sunny Point or Tupelo Honey for breakfast

The Biltmore is a fun day, and Salsa's is a must, then you can go white water rafting. There are some nice small place's to stay up on the Blue ridge parkway as well. I wish I was eatin at Salsa's again.

We went to the Biltmore last year...it was quite impressive.

We were thinking of taking a scenic route down to Asheville this time. Anybody have any suggestions driving from Cincinnati, OH, maybe the Blue Ridge Parkway?

Cheers...
