ARKONIK's Response to: Homeland Security took my 110

Man that sucks! Arkonik are specialists in import of Defender into the US and Canadian market and have NEVER had any issues! Last year alone we imported over 50 trucks, this year we plan to import 70 trucks into the market.

I didn't say anything, and I never saw it

That was however quoted from another thread on this forum from someone I trust

In fact, I think everyone except Zack called it a polished turd.

It wasn't that it was a P.O.S., just that when it's rumored to cost $125,000 the standards we all have are pretty high.

I have had the "pleasure" of seeing 6 of their polished turds... But thank you, I have made good money from deturding them... I think we are yet to have one that has had a decent engine in it.. They are polished turds...new door catches are failing left right and centre, doors flying open because of shitpart latches, fires in wiring harnesses, shagged trans and transfer boxes, very poor quality bubbling lifting new paint, new engines installed...(13 years ago).. Rains more water inside than outside, damaged new paint covered with brushed on house paint, engines that consume more oil than gas.. Overheating issues.. Rust stains running down brand new paint..new headliners falling down, haphazard and spotty sound insulation installation..but they look pretty pulling into my shop on a flatbed..

And if anyone needs pics or videos I will be happy to back it up..

So pretty much the standard UK treatment then. :

I guess it all depends on what you pay for the truck. If I had paid anything over $70,000 (arbitrary figure, I know) for one of these "rebuilds" only to have these issues, then I'd certainty have every right to call it a polished turd.

I only did a quick walk-around and could tell it was a turd. I'm glad to hear my assumptions are correct. If you pay $100k+ for a Defender it should at least have a smooth roof and fuel injection.

Yah. I'm not sure exactly what allusions people have about Rover shops in the UK, but the reality is 90% of them are outright crooks.

I'm careful to not paint everyone with the same brush here, but I have yet to see an impressive UK restoration. It's not their fault, there's been an ass for every seat thusfar so why change.

Unfortunately for them any real feedback before was lost in their username being so close to land rovers uk...the real one.. Now with their new name of Arkonik it will make bad reviews easier to find... I have only heard rumours, but believe to be fairly accurate about numerous engine problems once the vehicle had gotten here.. Seriously, how can you expect to fulfill a warranty program when the vehicle has been shipped half way around the world before most customers get to see it...I will admit, when you first lay eyes on it it looks pretty good, but once you start noticing the things wrong, they compound very quickly.. And the list gets bigger the more you drive it.. And yes, my customer purchased 6... That's right..6...from them and invested a lot of money in doing this in conjunction with LRUK and he got shit quality workmanship... I shudder to see what regular customers got..

I have warned against Land Rovers UK since 2008 when the owner Andy screwed my friend Neil to the wall and shipped a truck over that had to be parted out. Neil is an active member of this forum.
You guys all know what I do for a living and how well versed I am in all of this.

I was contacted by a fellow asking why I was saying the were crooks and should be avoided.
I responded why and gave him Neils name. Here is the response I got:

Siobhain Tinney Sep 25, 2014

Good morning Doug

Thank you for your email.

After reading your email several times, I made it a priority to search for Lt. Commander xyz%$#@ on our sales database. Land Rovers UK operates with an excellent client/vehicle management system which has recorded all of the company's sales from as early as 2008. This database is also audited on a regular basis by third party officials. Therefore, I was extremely confused when I unfortunately saw that there was no customer or sale recorded which listed any transaction with the gentleman you speak of. With saying this, could be please provide me with evidence of the sale or perhaps a copy of the client's invoice? This would be greatly appreciated as I would like to understand whether it was indeed a Land Rovers UK Ltd sale or whether the actions you speak of were committed by another company.

Additionally, you mentioned that Neil's Defender was installed with a TDI conversion. I must firmly emphasise to you that this establishment obeys all US customs law and DOT regulations and installing a 200 TDI conversion would therefore be breaking the strict laws which we have always upheld and respected. I would also like to please ask that you send evidence of LRUK advertising which promotes TDI conversions. I must confirm with you that all of the engines which LRUK installs into our custom Land Rover Defenders are authentic, original, age-related refurbished engines which have been consistently approved and cleared after thorough and careful inspection by all customs channels.

Once again, I would like to offer my invitation to you, to visit our establish and see for yourself the operation we run here. As mentioned in my previous email, Land Rovers UK is an approved USA exporter and whilst we encourage healthy competition it is disappointing to read forums and see competitors whom we greatly respect and value disrespecting our work.

I hope to hear from you soon and resolve the aforementioned concerns I have towards the statements which you have projected.

Kind regards

Siobhain

A couple things for those in the dark.
There is no such thing as a "US Approved Exporter"
I am not their competitor @ any level
Any UK dealer targeting Americans with shoddy vehicles that has escalated their game to the point of having a PR manager picking scrapes with guys like me- well figure it out for yourself
These guys are bold faced liars and charlatans to be avoided @ all costs
I said the same about Berkshire and still several here were taken for hundreds of thousands

I've seen some pretty rough trucks come across that are still somewhat salvageable, so the fact that a 'restoration' had to be parted out says a lot to me. What, in particular, was so bad about it? If you don't mind sharing...
