Arizona tour/rental

Any recommendations....

Anyplace in Phoenix Arizona to rent a wrangler or do a cool off-road tour. Not looking for a group tour like pink jeep if possible. Might be there in early July. Might go to Grand and Sedona.

Thanks
Rich

I would call Scottsdale Land Rover. They are awesome, or at least were when I was there. They get it.

You can also reach out to the Arizone Rover club. The are pretty active. I also have a rover buddy in Mesa that I can hook you up with.

There was a Jeep rental place in Sedona. Not sure if they survived the economic beat down.

Thanks for the tips. I will contact LR Scottsdale.

I was hoping to rent a wrangler but couldn't find any. I will do another search in the sedona area.

If you call Mario 909-731-5450 or Martyn 928-227-0545 (Adventure Trailers) they are out of Prescott, Az. They have a lot of local resources.

Prescott is actually the expo-epicenter of the universe now. I lived there for 2 years, and all that happened after I left. WTF?

Scottsdale Land Rover isn't going to do anything for you other than sell you a LR.

I bought my first rover from them and they were great with advice and support. I have a friend still there and he says the same.

There is also Will at Sierra Expeditions in Tempe for advice.

FOX Rent A Car at the Phoenix Airport. Rented a 2dr Wrangler there this past fall. Did Schnebly Hill Rd in Sedona. Good experience with them.

Thanks,
I have never been there before. Is this a place you can just go on your own with a map. Is Schnebly Rd what I should be looking for. Might rent the whole time from fox and take the rental.

What do you think.
Thanks again
Rich

Rich,

My wife and I were in Phoenix for a conference this past fall. I wanted to rent a Jeep while we were there so that we could take the top down and because we planned to go up to Sedona for the day.

The people at FOX were very easy to deal with. I reserved the Jeep through there website (they were the only rental car place at the airport who rented Jeeps). There daily rate was very reasonable. If you look around online you can probably find some discount coupons.

Schnebly Hill Road is an old mining road that heads north out of town and ends right on the interstate, just below Flagstaff. Hang a right on the interstate and it'll take you straight back to Phoenix.

Allow about 2 1/2 hours or so for the trail. We started mid-afternoon and were able to watch the sunset while on the drive back to Phoenix. Lots of picture taking opportunities on the trail. The trail itself is not terribly technical, but you still want to keep aware. Be sure to get a free trail map from the Sedona Chamber of Commerce downtown (the map is huge). There are numerous other trails in the area, but this one fit our schedule the best.

Also, there is a pretty good elevation change going up the trail, so I'd recommend taking a fleece or light jacket with you.

Here are a handful of pics from our trip, though not necessarily in order. Hope this helps and enjoy your trip!
