apple watch..

is it just me or does everyone wearing one look like a Goober...

as a tech guy, i'm trying to warm to it, but at the last exec meeting 3 guys had them, I'm not finding the value in it. Sure i can see who's calling and dick tracey it, but why? I'm not sure i want to be that connected...

and it's only water resistant (i need 20Atm water proof.. for my sideline in diving)

facebook on my wrist? naw..

convince me?!?

I like my watches mechanical and hardy. i.e. Rolex/scubapro/g-shock (ok 2 of those are digital battery watches but you get what i mean, they each serve different purposes and are worn doing different tasks)

dunno. not against it at all. but..

I'm kinda with you on the Apple Watch. I don't Facebook and If I want to know my pulse, I'll buy a Fitbit at less than half the cost.

I don't hardly wear watches anymore. And I do have quite a collection though my dream watch eludes me. I want to eventually get a Vacheron Constantin. Then I'll be done. I think.

I'm with you. They've made the phones so large that now people need something super tiny????
This Swede was at my son's soccer practice. Maybe this is how they roll in Europe???

Apple Watches are a fad. I wore an iPod watch for a while. But that was 8 years ago or so. Although crude by comparison, I'm over the idea of a tech watch. I learned that I hate thinking about charging my watch. I still wear it to ski and it makes controlling wired music a snap ( or in it's case a shake of the wrist).

Ditto! Rolex all the way. They may be a bit cliché or Benz in the Bentley world of watch aficionados, But I've loved the Daytona ever since I was a teenager. I'm still waiting ;-) But it's not a fad and it doesn't lose value. Stainless/black face was a no brainier, that is until I saw this new black finish. On the fence but I'll be satisfied with it forever. One and done.

I was going to compare it to the Casio Databank watch but those are actually still useful. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Apple Watch of today didn't work with any of the iPhones (or whatever they become) sold in 2020.

I will probably get back into watches soon. I just got tired of wearing one for now.

I should dig out one of my old pocket watches for a change.

Yeah, tech on my wrist, no thanks. A watch is anachronistic anyway, so I want something that particularly appeals to me stylistically and is exactly what I want. Apple watch is too homogeneous (they all look the same regardless of band and case material) and they're not mechanical and self-winding.

Two watch: $21 Casio for all my soccer referee duties and a $250 citizen. It's cool but can't read date on it so what's the point

I'm a watch guy and I see watches as tools first, and wearable mechanical art second. That being said, gizmo's like this will have its place...just not on my wrist.

My current rotation:

My wife has an Apple watch, and likes it. From what I can tell it's a way to read text messages and emails without digging your phone out of a pocket or (for her) purse. She also likes the exercise tracking apps.

It's relatively functional for her, and probably would be for me, except for one thing - I don't want to take my existing, highly sentimental valued watch off to put an Apple Watch on.

The only good use for the Apple Watch I've seen so far is maternal fetal monitoring.
