Anyone's credit card company hit them up for a "foreign transaction fee"?

I just ordered about $750 worth of junk from LRSeries.com at the beginning of September. I got my goofball duty bill in the mail from FedEx, which is whatever. Then I got my credit card statement from Chase, and it shows a "Foreign Transaction Fee" $21.87. Not the end of the world, but pretty obnoxious.

Is that normal? Does anyone know of cards that don't do that? I wonder if I call to complain to Chase if they will remove it.

Normal. It's the cost of conversion. Happens to me every time I travel overseas as well.

Story of my life right now, some credit card companies have cards for frequent travelers that don't charge them but it may not be worth it for your application compared to other rewards programs,

You need to do the math between fees and charges. Or use PayPal or alternative payment methods.

USAA certainly does. I live and travel abroad and get hammered on my CC with foreign trans fees.

It's usually 1% though. Never seen it higher. The one above is closer to 3%.

Basically you can get hit for a fee or a crap exchange rate ... Either way you are going to get shafted.

My Marriott rewards visa platinum card (chase) doesn't charge a fee for foreign transactions and the rate is pretty much exactly what google shows it should be for that day, but it does have an annual fee. I figure if I earn at least one free night the card paid for it's annual fee. It also comes with a chip in it for the foreign card readers. I buy pretty much everything that I can with it, and I just used the points I've earned for for a week at a pretty nice Marriott in London.

Post a pic of your credit card, along with your billing address, social security number, and your mother maiden name. I've got a friend in Nigeria that can sort all of this out for you.
