Anyone work for Hertz management?

Long shot for sure, but as some of you may know, I'm also a Mustang fan and I'm looking for an inside track on where all those Hertz rental Mustangs go.

IIRC, I thought I read they established in advance an auction process. The cars were to be on duty for a given duration then sold in a way unlike other cars Hertz owns. Don't they have automatics, though? I'd go for the real Shelby instead.

The cars are going through the standard auctions in most cases. I'm just trying to find out when and where. I always seem to hear about it afterwards.

Amoung the Shelby faithful the current GT500 is mostly loooked down on for not being a "real" Shelby. Their reasoning is that Ford SVT designed and builds the cars. The "true" Shelbys are the ones they say are built by Shelby in NV. Not sure I agree with that. Plus the GT500 still commands 15K over sticker and they build 9K or so a year. The Shelby GT-H (rental car) is much more limited only 500 made and in most cases less $$.

Sorry this isn't Rover related.

Sorry this isn't Rover related.

Some car magazine had a write up on what was going to happen with them. FWIW, it sounded like they would be handled somewhat differently, as Hertz stands to do much better recovering on these models than the typical Taurus.

The Shelby faithful have never embraced much of what has been built after 1970, and within that camp there are still debates concerning their own cars. The guy is a marketing genius who happens to build cool cars. Truth be told, by those standards, the only "real" Shelby was the '65. Everything after had comfort and/or Ford build considerations compromising the vehicles. What, by '68 they were rolling down Ford's line, not shipped out to LA for finishing, and no longer featured Shelby modified engines. If anything, the new GT500 is more "Shelby" than the '69 and '70 models, which were Ford afterthoughts with the new Mach I and Boss models.

I'd still go after a GT500 as opposed to the Hertz - that car is detuned and has an auto. Both of those factors will hurt long term interest. Give it a little time, and the premiums will drop. New and improved models will be coming soon. Be patient. Besides, I'm sure you could do some horse trading here and there given your association with another high interest area of hard-to-get vehicles.

I'm not old enough to drive a Corvette yet, plus I have a kid and a dog that like to go for rides too.
Around here you have to be about 65 years old plus and were gold chains with your shirt too far un-buttoned to drive a Vet.

Nice cars and I respect them, but not for me.

I didn't think that rover4x4 would agree with anything I had so say, so I'm glad he popped in the negative post. Thanks!

ECR... Where do you find the road to open it up? Every time I drive north I get stuck behind some knucklhead doing 15mph under the post speed limit.... Even worse driving in VT... I miss driving warp speeds in Southern Kali... But on the brighter side I can pass almost any thing in my 90... PS are you still doing the full led kits?

Be sure to insist on full instructions, all replacement or necessary hardware, and next day shipping.
