Anyone want to share shop space in Austin?

Looking to go in on a small steel building in Austin area with another Land Rover "hobbyist" to take on larger projects.
A building of interest:

http://www.loopnet.com/Listing/19513...t-B-Austin-TX/

Gauging interest here to see if it's doable. (I'm not affiliated with the owner/broker)

Also- I have a shop in Michigan I'll be moving down to austin, not a lot of gear, but Cherry picker, engine stands, work benches, welders, and a la carte hand tools that I'd be willing to throw into a deal with someone as communal use gear.

Good luck, sounds awesome. This was discussed for the NYC guys at one point not sure what happened with that but it sounds like a great idea.

I don't have a fiberglass hard top but do expect to buy one for next winter. Well assuming it's not as mild as this past one. Let's keep in touch. I wouldn't be up for splitting it with you, but I might be up for chipping in a little bit to store stuff. Maybe that helps and is interesting to you. If not, no harm no foul.

You bet, I'll try to keep this thread alive and put feelers out with some track contacts here in austin that run road cars, might be able to put together a decent sized shop and do some industrial racks for storage. Kind of a pay for what you use type deal.

Companies that need that kind of space could include landscapers etc.

Hey Sam.
I was in GT Friday. Was wondering which one you were. I hadn't been in there since it was law enforcement only.

Luis- I'm an account manager, so I live in the office. You won't find me on the retail floor unless I'm "walking it off" during the day. My two road salesmen and I cover KS, NE, MO, OK, LA, AR, and northeast Texas accounts, so I stay pretty busy! If you drop back in, PM me or have them page me, I'll come out from my hole!

Talked to Mark at Loyal Austin DIY (Formerly DIY Texas). If the Austin crowd is interested, fenced-in locked parking/storage is $150/mo and parking lot out back storage is $100/month. Both options include 2 hours of lift/tool access time in the "package" ($40 value)

I was there a couple of weeks ago changing my oil. It recently changed ownership. This guy seems like he will take better care of the place and seems to know a little bit about Rovers.

He also had this in his lot.

I live in Austin (Steiner ranch) Just bought a 110 from Johan, but it might be several months before I get it down here. I had this idea about 10 years ago, but couldn't find anyone to commit. I wanted to buy some cheap land close to the lake and put a steel building up. Instead, I just bought all of the crap anyway and crammed it in my garage. I'm planning on a garage remodel soon, but I have a 4 post lift, cherry picker, blast cabinet, mig welder, etc... Pretty much anything you would need. My problem is I have an Mga on the lift, an xke close to coming back from the body shop for me to put together, a 110 coming down hopefully in June, and no place to keep everything (hence the garage remodel looming)...

I think the key is to have the garage part of, or right next to the house. With three young kids, my stints in the garage are 40 min here, 40 min there. When it is late and everyone is asleep, I still find it hard sometimes to head in there to work. I can't imagine if it was a block away, let alone 15-20 min. Once the xke is done, I'll probably sell the Mga, although it will be hard. She was my first. I haven't told my wife that I plan on moving her car into the driveway when the 110 arrives.

Keep me in the loop when you ship stuff down. Maybe we can share a truck coming out here. The 110 is around Grand Rapids.

A 71 and a 72 factory sunroof car. The 72 is dry and clean, super straight roller and the 71 needs to be crushed, lol. But the 383 from it is rebuilt and may find its way into a defender

Absolutely. I use to work out of the old Carbon Waffle plant, had some space in there for the Mopars. I was half a mile away, and only made a down on weekends... now that I'm in Texas I'm hoping it will be different somehow!

Anyhow I'd be amenable to that if you're trucking the 110 down

Austin guys-
a few years ago I lived across the street from a place where a defender from "Pangea Expeditions" lived. I always looked to see if anyone was around the truck, but never did see any one.

Do we have an affiliate on this site, or anyone who know them?
