Geez, we ought to be able to get a team going cheaper than that, after all, a '72 d-90 and 2 '69 110's couldn't be worth that much! (No, I won't even go there)

I was looking at the specs and pictures of the Tomcat, trying to get some ideas that might apply to a regular ol' d-90 like mine. I have some observations and questions:

Is that the biggest freakin' washer fluid reservoir you ever saw, and what do you think of how its mounted?

It looks to me as if the radiator must be mounted to the back of the cab and have a couple of fans mounted on it..... well I never....could that be right?

I can see where the air comes thru the side of the vehicle into the engine compartment, thru the MAF and into the plenum, pretty spiffy, but where did it come from? In the pictures I don't see a snorkel or vent anywhere.

What's that thing on the front left corner of the engine that looks like a thermos bottle?

Land rover transverse gear box. I don't know what it is or what makes it special.

I have a 4.6 stage 2 engine in my d-90, and although its significantly better than the old 3.9 was, I would hardly call it a "racer". Is there something more to this engine or is all the improvement gained by stripping weight from the vehicle, maybe?

Finally, I just love the way the rear shocks are mounted.

It is probaly good for a racer. It needs to be easy to refill at pit stops.

yes that is the radiator. I think there are air ducts in the roof panel too.

I can see where the air comes thru the side of the vehicle into the engine compartment, thru the MAF and into the plenum, pretty spiffy, but where did it come from? In the pictures I don't see a snorkel or vent anywhere.

I believe the air filter is in the passenger compartment

What's that thing on the front left corner of the engine that looks like a thermos bottle?

I'm gonna guess radiator overflow

Land rover transverse gear box. I don't know what it is or what makes it special.

I didn't see this part. But I did see it says it has an R380 so I don't know what it means either

I think racer for a land rover is just a different perspective

I prefer the shocks to be mounted in double shear.

Hey, thanks for the answers!
You know, I didn't even notice that the connection itself wasn't in double shear, thats kinda surprising. I liked all the travel it appears they get.

Thanks again, its nice that guys like you who know WTF is going on are willing to my questions that must at times seem simple.

An R380 is the newer gearbox type that replaced the LT77 & LT77s
