Anyone need an Undercarriage Photo?

A member of this board was kind enough to put his Defender in a position to easely photograph the underside.

Actually only a few dings and dents this weekend in Carnage Canyon. 5 hours to run 2.5 miles......It was a blast!!!!

Follow-up Post:

Alot of rocks to play on. Carnage Canyon is almost one continouse boulder field

I am actually glad I did not respond when invited to come and play, because I think you would have more than one picture to post (My wife gave birth on Friday to our little boy, so there was no way). Will a stock suspension run carnage canyon?

If you wanted to do some work on the undercarriage, you could have just propped it up against a curb with a 4x4 timber...

Seriously, aside from the good chance of body damage, what are the real problems with rolling the truck over? Does fuel leak out badly (sure its supposed to be closed system)? I guess the oil wont collect in the pan properly and the pickup might not suck oil. Does everything pretty much stay put?

Usually after rolling it is a good idea to pull all the plugs and spin the engine to expel oil in the cylinders or otherwise you could cause damage. This usually depends, though, on how long you are upside down.

1. Brian-
a. Congratulations on the new Rover fan hope Mom and Baby are doing well.
b. Yes stock suspension can run, I would not recommend though. Sliders are MANDITORY!

2. Jim
a No Leaks !!!
b. Yousef shut it down as soon as the door hit the ground. Started right up with a real small amount of blue smoke (oil in cylinders)

3 Mike
a. Cage never touched the ground.
b Everyone was very safe.....seat belts save lives! no one hurt (maybe a little pride)

4.Chris
I would agree if the truck has been over for a while. We got him back over in about 10 min.

Congratulations, Brian!

Let's see... if my math is right, that makes 3 little crumb crunchers running around the Jenkins household.
I think I see a 110 in your future!!!

Cheers,
Rod

Hey thanks guys!!! What a great experience it has been. Yea I have talked the 110 up quite a bit. It is just the price tag that really puts a damper on it. I have seen some old series 110/109 up in Nederlands for sale that I would love to get into, but it is the little comforts of the minivan that are nice when you have 3 little one under three year old.

Mike, thanks for the info. So, I need to put some slider on the list of must get.

That was one experience I have no interest in doing again. The flop wasn't bad; the truck rolled very slow and hit the ground very softly. Before I rolled I was already at 45+ deg so falling over wasnít that bad. I was lucky I didn't go complete over; two big rocks stopped me from falling another few feet down. Larry and Ali had to hold the truck for me to get out since it wasn't stable and it looked like it wanted to roll again. My door is completely damaged along with the front fender, I'm mad that I didn't hit the cage; I really wanted to see how it does.
As soon as I went over I heard Hanson say "SHUT IT DOWN". The truck started right up with very minor smoke.

Hanson, my name is Yousef NOT Yourself

Brain, congrats on the new baby

Yes I wanted to roll my truck

I was in a boulder field and was climbing a 5-6' boulder. The rear tire was up in the air which means I was pushing it but the truck felt good, when I got to the top of the boulder my truck went over. I don't have any pic's but I think Hansen took few.

Nice work Yousef!! Mango wishes he could have seen the beast on its side.

Had a blast on Carnage. Thanks to Yousef for all the spotting. Used the crap out of my sliders and diff guard.

Dave, I think yousef will be needing all new body panels soon... Oh outside of the tailgate (there isn't even a scratch on it).
