Scott you posted a wanted ad for a truck on July 1st this year, and on July 3rd had already purchased/found one. That tells me you must be one of those people who likes things immediately when you've made up your mind you want something. A week is not a lot of time. At all. And I certainly wouldn't think he's just running off with your money - more likely you just wanted something at your door far faster than he could get you what you wanted because his life got in the way.

Basically we're all, collectively, saying "don't worry...yet" - you started off this thread talking about never getting scammed on the internet before, and if you look at the facts here, he's been a known respected member for a long time, and you should have nothing to worry about.

Chillllllll.

If this is true, I would agree about your concern. How did you know he was riding a bike?

I purchased a Subaru motor that he posted in the samba for a conversion to a vanagon Syncro. It's pure chance and lucky for me that he also likes Defenders. I don't think it is unreasonable to ask for some communication. In a contractor and most disputes come out if not communicating.

Pretty small community we have here. Lack of communication can be frustrating but I'm sure it will work out.

Scott,

WOW

You have the right to be upset and being that you were given an answer incognito changes the game completely.

I would follow up on that pm and call him out on the lack of responses

We did not know the whole story, and in your situation, I will go bananas

Once again... sorry as we did not know all the behind the scenes

Thanks. I'm pretty pissed. I don't understand why some people here think I should not be upset after sending a bunch of money to someone who I do not know. The only thing keeping me from going completely nuts is the fact that he's is a member here.

Thanks for sharing all the facts. That would have been meaningful at the beginning.
I'm curious. How does Samba work? Did you speak to a live human or just PM or email ?

What's the status on Samba? Curious about the crossover. Does the user ID at Samba have a long standing membership?

I exchanged numerous emails over a period of weeks in regard to his ad on the Samba. His ad there had his personal email in the ad. He does not have a long track record on the Samba. The Syncro is a rare vehicle and has a similar cult following to the Defender.

Is there a chance that the Samba account is not really him? I mean, not saying that I know him personally or am vouching for anyone, but he seems to be a long standing member here and followed through on previous sales.

Are you absolutely certain you were dealing with him on Samba?
Is it possible that it's a scam account at his expense? Was his personal email a gmail account or similar or his own company domain?
I'm just throwing ides out there because it's not adding up.
Regardless, I'm sure he will respond on here with some type of rebuttal so I think at this point we just need to wait.

Email is his. I did not reply through a Samba account. Paypal is his. I did a pretty exhaustive email exchange with him in regard to what he was selling. He sent me pictures of various things I wanted to know about. Way beyond any internet scam.

------ Follow up post added October 28th, 2014 07:34 PM ------

PS. I found him here by his email...pure coincidence that I'm her too.

Update. Keith contacted me and we are working things out. Not sure what role Defender Source played in this but thanks to everyone for your help.
