So true, especially in my town.

There is a two piece case- one holds the frame and the other the wheels. It gets you under the oversized fee so you just pay the checked bag fee for each. I just saw a review for it in the last year but now I can't find it. Might be worth it if you intend to travel with your bike more often.

The other issue is how you get to your hotel, etc with your bike. Can you cram it into the cheap rental car or will you need to go up a size in cars now too. Everything starts to add up so is having your bike for comfort for a few days worth the extra fees all around?

For me, if it's not a race I just bring my measurements, pedals and Garmin watch.

Great info - glad to know I wasn't crazy about the 2 piece case deal. And good facts about traveling with such a big box/luggage. If it's a mtn bike, usually you can have fun on most any trail bike on most trails. I'd be pickier on my jump bike but that is because it's much smaller more technical riding.

Boulder is really nice from what I've heard. Would love to visit there one day. Hopefully one of the kids will go to school out in CO.

Well Unfortunatly I never made it riding or met up with any members on my trip to AZ, I was very busy working on cars with my uncle. I did however buy myself a replacement 4Runner in AZ, and boy will I be buying my used vehicles out there now, it's a 99 and not a spec of rust on it. It's 4x4 V6 5 Speed manual I put a clutch in it.

When I go pick it up and bring it home in march I will try to ride south mountain out there.
