Anyone ever shock their computer and kill it?

Walked to the kitchen to get a beer....came back and touched the tower and now it's dead.

The monitor shut off, keyboard went out, but the tower stayed on. It wouldn't respond to the front power or reset switch. So I turned it off at the power supply. When it was turned back on it would run for a second or so and shut off.

I took out the ram and it will run for a bit more and beep a bunch and shut off.

I left one stick in after trying to start with every stick individually and no go. Unplugged all extra devices and drives and no go. Swapped out CPUs and no go. So I think the mobo has had it.

Any thoughts?

I ordered cheap stick of ddr2 to test if its just ram, but I doubt it. Figured I'd be sure first.
The pc has served me well for 6 years, built by me. So not too upset just sucks lol.

Pete

Stop messing, pull the HD, and get a new computer plus an external drive enclosure for the old HD

Check the fan on the back on the power supply unit. When they go, they overheat and cook the power management (where the cord plugs in)
As long as it's not a silly proprietary design (ala Dell) the power supply is easy to replace and not expensive.

Check that before you tear into th HDD or RAM
