Maybe everyone already knows about these, and I'm late to the party, but its an interesting concept...

I've got a business concept similar to that. In a nut shell it's a place where you can rent a garage stall that is complete with a lift, power, air, heat, A/C, etc. It's for guys without workshop space. You could rent for the day, week, month, year, etc. Insurance would be killer though!

I've researched that idea a lot... not for starting one myself, just for use... it seems like a lot of people tried to do something like a military Auto Hobby Shop.. but most of them don't succeed... I think insurance was one of the biggest issues... There are a couple that are still out there, but like I said, most of them folded almost immediately that I found.

Garage condos' look cool, but probably pretty expensive!

You are exactly correct, my model was based on the military hobby shops, but you would get your own secure stall and supply your own tools. I just don't think there is a market right now.

Hmm, multiple high end, gas guzzling cars concentrated in a tight pattern of big, stick built garages.

A perfect target for eco-terrorists.

No, I don't, but your local, maybe I can borrow yours when your not using it I honestly never get sick of looking at my wife, but I'm not sure she would say the same about me, so during those times...

It's a great idea - I'd do it. Probably share it with a friend, but still worth every penny.

My Dad used to visit the base shop all the time and I totally loved it. One day, there will be some cash in the business model. One day.

I have been toying with the idea of building some here in Colorado, if for some reason I do not build them I might buy one since it would be nice to have a place to store / works on the toys.

I've rented one for a few years here in Vail.

PS It actually says in the lease that you cannot "live" in it!
