No doves down at my spot yet. Hoping for some cool weather to push some down. Spent opening weekend irrigating hay. Shot a prairie dog or two.

He he. The Mrs. before she was a Mrs. used to pretend to like to shoot/hunt. After she became the Mrs., she went back to her real hunting grounds, the shopping mall. Good work, 101st!

On an off note, the doves in the Middle East are ginormous...like double the size of ours. Annoying when trying to sleep after 24 hour ops and they are calling outside your hooch. I've had a lot of angry words with those damn doves.

But they make for a great low tech perimeter alert system!

Not exactly a dove, but here's a nice example of a Merriam's subspecies wild turkey from northeastern Washington state. Washington has three wild turkey subspecies--eastern, Merriam's, and Rio Grande.

Yeah, I love dove hunting - grew up in Kentucky and shot a LOT of them when I was a kid! Not too many doves flying in Alaska cornfields so I haven't hunted any in a long time
I was hoping to get back home for the opening of the season this year, but my schedule isn't going to let me get there for another 2 weeks...
I heard there are a LOT flying this year in KY, so I hope everyone else is seeing a lot of them!!

Hopefully the ptarmigan will change to white before the snow. Makes great hunting. I will be chasing mule deer soon out west.

My hunting partner of the last 15 years went off to college. My motivation to go hunting is not as strong right now. But I do have pictures from last year.
