Buying tips. Not interested in anything restored. Prefer an original spec RS/SS in good running condition with good patina. Any gut feel on price range right now for something like this?

Head up to one of the many annual events at Carlisle or Hersey with cash. There will be nice Camaros in every shape and form are all over the place. 50 to 100 clean original to restored examples for sale. You will save a lot of $$ with a clone and IMO will be better off. Amazing examples of BB and SM tasteful restomods (4-disks, coil overs, modern front suspension, etc.) where you know the seller is losing his shirt. Stay away from convertibles. Not worth it b/c frame sag, shakes/rattles, other.

Hagerty has those nice charts: http://www.hagerty.com/valuationtool...eport?vc=45472

but start at half of those price points, or less. Don't make offers until late Saturday afternoon when the vendors & sellers are starting to get anxious thinking..... damn, I just dropped 20 large two other projects and my wife won't let me haul that Camaro back home. Shit, my car hauler doesn't have the room. etc.

Love those cars... In HS, I had the chance to buy a 67, decent condition, built motor for $1000, and passed on it.

Still want a 68 RS/SS 396 bad.

yeah - Clay I am looking for one currently for the wifey - she had a purple one in her youth. And has always wanted another.

So there are so many clones out there you have to be really careful - but you will pay btw $18-27K for an unrestored one - course like D-90's you can get one for 10-15 clams along at any time that requires a ton of work

Restomods are in the high 30-100K

Restored originals in btw that.

Thanks Jonsey, that's the range it seems to be. Just as crazy as beat to shit Rovers. Ha! Haven't come across any purple ones yet! My first car was a red 67 RS. Would be fun to find the right one again. No interest in restored cars. I like an honest survivor with some patina and new T/A radials and I'm golden.
