I picked up this little jewel yesterday. It's a pristine 1984 transitional 5513 Submariner with acrylic low domed tropic 19 crystal.

Damn, that bezel looks like it's never seen daylight!

Nice find!

Your buddy is pretty good, and he has a great collection. I especially like the Tutima.

I'm at BaselWorld and Tudor just announced their replacement for the Black Bay Black here: Baselworld 2016 - Tudor Black Bay - New edition watches The new watch will have the updated logo and...wait for it...an in-house officially certified Chronometer movement. With the extremely short run of the BB Black (released October 2015) I predict yours will become the most collectable watch Tudor has ever released to the public.

Are you sure you want to sell yours Ron?

Also check out the Black Bay Bronze and Black Bay Dark via the same link.

I'm going to Germany in a little over a month, and I've had my eye on a Nomos Orion Minimatik recently. Anyone here know the rules about buying overseas?

You'll pay full VAT at the dealer/manufacturer. When you get to the airport go to the Zoll (Customs) office and they will verify that you are leaving the country and stamp your receipt with an exit verification stamp. Just drop it into the mail back to the dealer and you will be credited the VAT back.

As far as duty in the US, most people wear their watches and mail the boxes and receipts back without a problem.

Just remember to be very careful with your response if the customs/immigration officer says, "hey, nice watch" !

Only if your reply is "if you like the watch, you'll really love my 2014 Puma Defender turbo diesel!"
