My current daily:

I pull this one out when I need a change of pace:

And when I'm camping, wheeling, working in garage, or otherwise don't feel like being 'nice' to my timepiece, titanium, of course:

I've just returned home from 3 weeks in Europe, the first 8 days were spent at BaselWorld with a 9 man team conducting interviews/product reviews and generating content for a well known watch forum. The general consensus among those I spoke to seems to be that the smart watch craze is not going to decimate the luxury mechanical watch industry like the "quartz revolution" did in the 70's, and may even introduce a new generation to mechanical watches once the initial fad wears off. As for me, I'm taking a wait and see stance.

I was having a conversation about this with an Apple Fanboi friend. I'll pass on wearables until they look like a real watch, and don't need to be charged every day. The beauty of a mechanical watch is 90% of why I wear one. It's certainly not for accuracy. Phone has that beat by a mile.

So true, and funny. I marvel at my $3800 Omega Seamaster every time I put it on, then have to take it back off to adjust the time!

That's the one! Well, black face SS for me. Love it either way! Did you get lucky and find one, pay over market, or wait on the list?

I've had mine for about two years. Noticed gaining about 5-10 minutes every month. Sent it in to Omega for an adjustment. So far, so good! I'll post up in a month or so if it needs adjusting again.

If you're on a waiting list and/or paying over MSRP you're using the wrong AD. That stuff is a thing of the past.

Not that hard. I've bought two out of the showcase in recent years at MSRP and didn't have to pay sales tax on either.

The new Omega 9300 movement is far superior to the old. I am within 15 seconds or so every month now.

Mine is a SeaDweller. Love it. Use it no matter what I am doing. Wrenching, camping, hiking, work, etc. I view it as a tool, so use it as such. Not to say I am careless with it.

Would love to throw a NATO strap on it.

Oh, I get to talk about 2 out of 3 of my passions! (Swiss mechanical watches, Land Rovers, Leica cameras and photography)

Pictures is my Omega Speedmaster, a timeless classic like a Land Rover.

And like LR's, the used and classic ones can be the sweetest.

But beware of "Franken-watches" in the used market that may be 90% genuine but had a crucial internal part replaced by a cheap one.

I like I iPhone and my iPad. That said an iwatch or any "smart" watch is never going to maintain or increase in value like a quality traditional watch. People will be replacing smart watches as fast as they do cell phones just the nature of technology. I can sell my Tag that was a high school graduation gift for close to what my parents bought it for in 1996 if I felt the need. Can you say the same of a smart watch or cell phone?

The watch market has softened a lot in the last few years. My very last watch I sold over the weekend was a Panerai217. I sold it for $13K. 2 years ago it was worth $26K. I bought it in 2006 for $8500.00

There are 2 reason the watch market is gonna continue to get crushed.

1 Apple Watch.

2 There are just too many brands out there nowadays pushing expensive watches. They're everywhere. Dump'em while you can.

There will always be a market for quality and people will gravitate towards fewer iconic brands ... your Kim Karshadian-esq Himalaya clone watch will be worth zip ... but your classic GMT Rolex will always have a market.
