Any VW owners on here?

I'm currently looking into purchasing a 2002 VW Golf 2.0L for a DD.

Curious if anyone on here is a VW owner and have any boards that they frequent that may be useful.

Also any good sites out there that would roll along the lines of AB/RN (normally priced but good inventory directed at the VW crowd)

First things I would have to do with it would be full exhaust replacement, O2s, FT inner TRE, headlamps and SRS Abag control module. Been pricing across the intranet and still coming high on numbers for me to be comfy with the price being asked for the vehicle, espically considering the fact I'm going to have at least a day or two of work on it before it can be inspected.

2 of them 69 Westy getting an ALH 1.9TDI out of a 98 Jetta and an 02 Jetta TDI with 240K miles. I would advise against a 2.0L. MK4s have some issues as you probably know, I don't think I would buy a gas one, too many better quality gas cars around that get the same mileage. I hate mine but I love the engine.

Get a TDI. MUCH more fun to drive while getting much better mileage. They are easily modified to be very fun.

I use http://www.germanautoparts.com/ for my new parts and 1 800 VW PARTS for my used stuff. My semi DD is a 1989 Jetta 1.6 NA Diesel. GUTLESS but dependable.

Stay away from the 2.slo liter. The bottom end is built like a tank for boosting purposes, but otherwise, a slendid boat anchor.
Diesel would be the avenue I'd pursue. I have a 2001 Golf, with the 2.0. Works, but has some issues. And whatever you do, DON'T EVER loose your keys.......

My wife had a 2002 passat. I threw a party when I sold it. Seriously. Worst car I have ever owned.
