Any Classic Indian Motorcycle gurus here??

My brother has come across an old Indian motor with the casting 41D882-anyone know a good reference or can identify the year/model?
Thanks

A 40D was a 1912 4hp first year of the kick start but these are serial numbers not casting numbers.

He's a Harley guy and engineer for USS, but had this sent to him from a buddy. No 'Indiantrader', sorry...

Just trying to authenticate the year/model- my google skills lack, and the history is not well documented as far as I can tell.

Jeff- that looks like casting reference to an LT230?!

Thanks Doug, I found those as well. This is the engine casting/production number i believe. Saw the pic of it on the case/block, but it is engraved like a VIN on the frame horns of a Defender.

Thanks for the help everyone!! Gotta keep digging...
