Any Austin Defender Owners

Hi all,

The previous owner of my 110 replaced the stock front seats with Discovery front seats. These are not the very comfortable due to the angle of the seat. Add the extra cushioning to the odd angle and it makes holding the clutch a good part of your daily workout. I want to replace these with stock (or Exmoor) seats, but I'd like to know I'm not going from bad to worse. Is there anyone here in the Austin, Texas area willing to let me sit (not drive) in their Defender (preferably manual transmission) for two minutes?

Thanks.

Thanks Bill - I'll wait a day or two. I'm in north-west Austin, so it's over an hour to New Braunfels from my place.

If you are still wanting to test drive seats I'll be driving from Dallas to San Antonio towards the end of the month when my truck gets delivered. I put Exmoor modular seats in it. The most comfortable of all the seats in my opinion without the moveable headrest.

I'm actually thinking about replacing my seats in my 110 with newer puma style seats if you are interested 2 fronts + middle front three rear and the 2 load space benches I have a photo in my build thread

Might be a month out from getting the new ones if you are not in a hurry

Those look real nice. What sort of trm - leather? cloth? vinyl? I may be making a trip to Ft. Worth next week - if I do and you're in Dallas then, I'd like to see those.

I'd like to have them in a month or so, before my next road trip late in July - the trip to Ciudad Acuna and back (about 250 miles each way) last weekend was kind of rough. Of course, me getting old could've had an impact, too

I'm only looking for a pair of front seats. I've got a decent pair of load area Exmoor seats.

Thanks.

I'm sort of at the mercy of the company. It was shipped in conjunction with my PCS. Current status according to their tracking is: VEHICLE IS ENROUTE TO DESTINATION IN POSSESSION OF THE OCEAN CARRIER. They estimated towards the end of June but the latest they are allowed to get it to Dallas is the 10th of July. So if you're got your seats by then, oh well. If not, Austin is on the way back from Dallas.

I went with the vinyl which is essentially leatherette that you find in new cars. It's got almost the same feel as actual leather XS seats do. Not quite as easy to slide on.

Thanks Bill & Gunmaker for letting me sit in your Defenders. I definitely need new seats. Off to the "Wanted" forum...
