Deleted because I'm not here to fight with people, I'm just speculating on the interwebs.

Again, not here to fight. Active investigation means nothing on internet message boards.

If it helps, think of this like speculating about who's going to win the Masters, whether Tiger is back, and what really happened on Thanksgiving that year.

Magnanimous, look it up.

Let's keep the thread going Doug, you know, for Google searches.

I'll put the posts I deleted back up. If I'm going to be a pariah let's make it worthwhile.

What the fuck dipshit...this isn't a tv show where after 45 minutes the case is solved. We'll be lucky to know anything in the upcoming months what is happening. Attacking Doug for just trying to squelch some of the bulshit makes you look like s fucktard.

Appreciate the fact that at least there has been some legitimate facts posted...

Classy response. Your professional role in this teleplay is what?

And didn't you start the other thread on this topic?

Moderators. Why not just close and lock this thread? It has devolved to silliness I think.

Gents,

Everyone needs to take a nice big breath and calm down.

If this thread continues down the path of calling names and other general stupidity it's gonna get locked.

Can't we go back to picking on hack job defenders and berating dudes who flip rusty NAS 110s and fully rhino lined 90's?

I don't know what magnanimous means. Is it like liquid hot magma?

------ Follow up post added April 1st, 2013 12:38 AM ------

Ok so I looked it up for all you with public school educations like me. Disappointingly, it has nothing to do with magma as I had previously suspected/hoped.

Quote:
Definition of MAGNANIMOUS

1
: showing or suggesting a lofty and courageous spirit <the irreproachable lives and magnanimous sufferings of their followers Joseph Addison>
2
: showing or suggesting nobility of feeling and generosity of mind <too sincere for dissimulation, too magnanimous for resentment Ellen Glasgow>
Still don't get it.

What other shop was raided and lost 3.9s?

Are all of us who operate openly and notoriously in the Rover/parts community in danger of having our Rover V8s seized?

It happened to me once at a port with a new 4.6, I sure don't want to come home from a good day on the tool truck to find a bunch of black Suburbans in my yard loading up my retirement investment in Rover blocks. Hopefully, they will be more friendly than the Sheriffs from last year.

The good thing would be that maybe my shop would be cleaner when they left, it couldn't be any messier. And if they took that damn 300 TDi project, I wouldn't be upset at all (damn lifetime project!)

I have tried to stay out of these threads but why do we lock and close theads when the conversation gets "heated" up? Actually, I was looking for the one thread that was bashing the Doctor for selling crappy trucks and not disclosing the whole truth about what he was selling when the customers were asking secific questions. I believe the Dr. will get what he deserves.

I just wanted to remind everyone that we actually have some rules that have been in place for ages, you can view them at this link. Specifically the one that comes to mind right now is:
Quote:
Please be respectful to other users and avoid personal attacks.
The reason we just don't move this to the Mud Pit is because the Mud Pit was not setup as a place where there are no rules. It was setup to put off topic discussions such as guns, politics, religion, etc. The idea is that many people come here for Defender related discussions and the other topics were overwhelming the recent posting activity features like New Posts page and recent discussions in the right hand column. This discussion is on-topic and thus it's in the right place, members just need to follow the rules.

Our intent is to foster a community where there is the same level of respect you would find around a campfire or at a happy hour. So please refrain from personal attacks. If personal attacks take place we'll either soft delete those posts and let the discussion continue or close the thread. We'll only do this when things get really out of hand and we'll also contact the people involved and ask them to take their spat outside. What we don't want is people starting to dislike some other member over heated exchanges and then have them take their dislike to other threads and start to lower overall respect level here.

I am sure everyone understand these concepts so lets try to just act like we just bellied up at happy hour (before anyone is drunk) and keep things fairly civil. Thanks.

Sum it up

Let me sum up the whole situation for you folks.

In the immortal words of James Morrison
"Now he spends some time in Cartegena"

When the pieces fall into place it will become evident that the situation at hand has less to do with our Land Rovers and more to do with "Cartegena"

No need to be turning on each other.

While I would not like to further the rumor mill on the tragic situation I did hear from a guy at our major north east parts parts supplier that a dealer who specialized in the importation of trucks in California was also targeted recently and the feeling was that the group(s) responsible for removing the assets were working their way north... That is all he said and that's all I know.
