Another New Guy

Just wanted to say hi. A member, DBOSS, flagged me down at a gas station nearby while I was driving my '97 white station wagon. I mentioned this site and he said it was safe to post. I am new to Defenders but not new to 4wd's. Ya, I admit I used to drive Jeeps, then I got a little smarter and migrated to Early Broncos, I have always liked Defenders but they are on the pricey side to drag across the occasional rock. I couldn't resist any longer and I am really starting to like this thing.

I have attached a few pictures for you.. My current D-90, my old '83 Scrambler with an EFI 5.0 from a '93 mustang and a homemade full hardtop (it only took two months of evenings to get the custom wiring harness made), A '74 Bronco my little brother and I built with a Cummins 4BT, NV4500 an Atlas II and lots of custom tube work. (this one is his, my green'75 is a little worse for wear from a head on with a drunk driver - glad I already had shoulder belts installed and my seats tied to the cage!)
They may be a little rough here and there but I do all my own machining, fab and welding.

After 6 engine swaps including two diesels and many mixed-brand V8 conversions I still have to say I'm pretty uneducated when it comes to Land Rovers but hope to learn more and maybe even drag the thing over the occasional rock or two!

-Hi.

Thanks

The Scrambler is long gone but the Early Bronco is still in the family and daily driven in the San Fran area. That thing gets consistently 21-22 mpg city with 37's and 4.56 gears! A 4BT and a manual tranny is definitely in the running when the D-90 gets repowered.

Welcome! Looks like you'll fit in nicely here. I'm sure there are many of us who have owned Jeeps and liked them (some may not be willing to admit it). But you'll soon get an attachment to the defender like no other
