I thought the 110's looked great in white, but that thing just looks straight up mean. I love it.

I saw that truck in person a few times. It was a very cool truck. That said, 140 is a little (lot) crazy.

Personally I am glad that Stuart and Keith are offering Defenders for sale at these prices. I hope they continue to ask more and more each year. Defenders selling for tons of cash says that people are still interested in them, and it adds value to current owners.

I have never met either Stuart or Keith, and I have only heard good things about them. If you look at the prices for Defenders on AutoTrader.com, you will notice that the people selling them are also asking a lot for them as well.

With that said, $140,000 for this particular Defender, is nothing more than a marketing tactic. Maybe Stuart just wants to show it off. I do not blame him, itís a sweet ride.

If it does sell for anywhere near that amount, I am painting my D110 black too, and selling it. I hope they do sell it for $140,000, and I do not care who buys it.

What would happen if all of us put our Defenders on AutoTrader.com for three times as much as they are worth?

This all being easy to say having two Defenders in the garage!

I don't know, but I'll try it.

For sale:
I have two 97 D90's each priced at $139,500.00 SW or ST, buyer's choice. SW is blue, ST is red. I'd elaborate more, but if you are willing to pay that much money for a Land Rover then you have more money than brains, so it doesn't matter anyway.

Every time I see the price on a 90. I wish I had a time machine- either to go back to 97 and buy every single one on the lot. Or to go to the UK now and buy 20 of them and then go 25 years into the future so I could import them legally

Yeah, but if you could travel through time at your will you might as well go buy some Shelby Mustangs, Old Ferraris, Cudas & Chargers. Those things are getting stupid money right now. Even rusted out shells of a reg. fastback mustang are pulling in more than orig. sale price!

BTW, when we were selling a 110 I jokingly made a hanging tag that said

WAS: $39,900
NOW: $49,995

Our manager thought it was hilarious!

If you're going back in time, screw buying any of those! I'd dump all my money into Google and Yahoo stock along with a few others. Pick up some 'lucky' lottory tickets too.

Then I'd buy that black 110 from Copley's

Just to pour some gasoline on the fire... the truck that just left here (image attached)... restored NAS 110 was 150K. No, Copley didn't sell it. The new owner paid 150K and then sent it to us for an automatic conversion on top of that.
Think what you want, but these things go for big bucks.

Did the price include the 18 wheeler...just kidding, but that thing is one sweet tow rig. The defender, from the rear, looks very nice too!

It should in my opinion, but that is just my opinion, not what the current market is.

NAS 110s are like Shelby Mustangs... folks pay HUGE money for them. Lost of people clone them and even make Mustangs that are better than Shelbys for a lot less. Some folks bitch because they want a Shelby and the prices are too high for them (like me), but in the end the market sets the price. If a number of people will pay 6 figures for a Shelby, then that is the price.
I REALLY want a new Ford Mustang GT500... but they are too costly for me because everyone is paying from 5K to 25K OVER the sticker price. I can bitch, but the dealers are getting it.... I think it sucks because it prices me out of the car, but that is the market.

The 110 market is almost the same, doesn't matter if you like it or not, that is today's market. The seller of that 150K 110 had a number of buyers to pick from. In the end he took the one that wired the cash. It wasn't like he only had one stupid buyer... there were many buyers. If he had 3 he could have sold all 3.

BTW, the 18 wheeler is from Passport Carriers. They are in and out of here pretty often. That one had the biggest sleeper I've ever seen. If it hadn't been raining I would have taken more pix.

Many thanks for the offer... but sadly I just sank every penny I have into a new shop, so the toys have to take a back seat.
