Cool Angel Eyes

Looking to upgrade front end lighting on the 90. Anybody run Hella 4000 with the CELIS light ring, aka angel eyes. I think it's like the lights on the BMW 5 series but I'm not sure. Was looking for a little more info. The picture on the Hella website doesn't really convey the effect.

"Angel Eyes"

Any info is always appreciated!

yeah, the "angel eyes" is the same as the euro-style city lights.

Hella also makes some E-code H4 headlights that drop right in. They're on my list of stuff to get eventually.

www.rallylights.com and somewhere in there they have an explanation of them.

We fit lots of CELIS 4000s.
Cool looking, but it is all bling at a pretty steep price over the stock 4000.
You can't see it in the daytime though. It does look really cool at night with the parking lights on, but they aren't like a BMW where you can see them even in the sun-light. It has to be dusk or darker to see the rings.

Your choice.
The "eyes" just get a 12 volt source. You could wire them to whatever.
We wire them to the parking lights, because you can't see them in the daytime, so why run the bulbs all the time from an ignition source. On the parking lights they are on when the parking or headlights are on giving a cool "eyes" look at night.
Get 4 and put them close together... it'll look like an Audi logo!

If you decide to get them from them, Susquehanna has one of the oldest running D-90 Source specials.
http://www.defendersource.com/forum/...read.php?t=820

I havent talked to them in a long time and I think at one point they had forgotten about the special but at the time, still said they would honor the special. If you call them, I would ask.

You can also get the 4000's with the older "city light" in a eurobeam pattern. I have had them for years and like them. They appear a little brighter in this picture than they actually are.

i spent some time on the phone this week w/ greg at susquehanna motorsports (www.rallylights.com) and he really helped me out w/ deciding what to go with. i have some old bulky/ugly landrover brand lights on my grill and wanted to switch to some hella's. i orginally wanted to go w/ the hella 3000 cool blue's... bc of the cool day time look (as well as the functionality at night) and they also have a day running bulb.

but what i ended up doing instead was getting hella 4000 fogs w/ clear lenses and 3 sets of bulbs... clear, yellow and blue... i plan to use yellow primarily and may switch them out once in a while for a change. the reason i went w. fogs was primarily bc i can keep them on at any time day or night, rain or not, and not just at night when no cars are coming at me. however, the law in most states says that if you have fogs they have to be on when the wipers are on...

and he also said that he is also honoring the 10% d-90 discount at any time during the year if you mention it... but not combined w/ the xmas 10%

has anyone installed a work lamp on the back of the their rig? that's my next route once i get these fogs on

I haven't mounted the work light yet but I plan to in a few weeks. If you are interested I have an extra one. It is brand new. They came as a set but I just plan to mount one. I am connecting it to a 3-way switch so that I can either have it on, off, or automatically come on with the reverse light.

I have a pair of cheap tractor type floodlights on the roof-rack as work lamps, IIRC they were $15 each from the local crap-o auto parts store. have them wired either via a switch or with the reverse lights. Saved my butt a few times already.

Eventually want to upgrade to something nicer, but they do the job for now while I sort out bigger fish.

THAT'S FREAKING SWEET!!! Ordered a pair last week. Can't wait till they come. Going to wire them ala E.C.R. to the parking lights and have an aux. switch! There's nothing wrong with a little D90 BLING!!
And they're certainly nicer than my old Rallye 1000's. Think I'll mount those up on the roof......maybe..

just saw this in another thread but paired up with 4000 celis hella's, it would be a pretty dramatic look. Just don't know if the H4 angel eye kit is junk or ok but for 98 bucks......almost worth a try??
